Pizza Fun to Eat, Fun to Photograph?

I am not sure where pizza would rank in favorite foods in the U.S., but I would be surprised if it was not in the top 5.  But, how is pizza to photograph?  For menu shots like the photographs you see here which is what the client wanted, the trick is showing enough of the pizza to give an overall impression, without showing the entire pizza which can then end up just looking like a bumpy circle on a plate.  There was no opportunity for a glory shot with a spatula lifting a gooey slice off the pan or anything like that, but nevertheless I always try to be as creative as possible, even if just making shots for a menu like I did at Brickyard Pizza in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Real Estate Photography in Bernalillo, New Mexico

Back on a real estate photography assignment for Susan and Mark Ryerson in Bernalillo, New Mexico, I got to enjoy the Sandia Mountain view the next owner will get to on a daily basis!  I can really appreciate a good view and a nice backyard as well.  This was a nice straight forward real estate shoot, with the only obstacle being a sleeping cat on one bed, but I told Susan to just market that room as a good place to take a cat nap!

Sneak Preview of One Of Many Project

Sneak Preview of One Of Many Project

A very special photoshoot for We Rise & One Of Many

A recent Saturday was spent photographing ten women here at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico for an upcoming social awareness fundraising event on October 5, 2018 at the KD Neeley Gallery.  The organization is called We Rise and this particular photo shoot was for a photo exhibition called One Of Many.  Find out more information on the Facebook event page.  This is a sneak preview with one of the women from that day.  Between now and the event I will be posting more sneak previews.  The theme of the photo shoot was to focus tightly on the eyes, which were done by a make-up artist.  I used my brand new Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro SP lens to capture the emotion in the eye and the detail in the make-up along with a clamshell / beauty dish lighting setup.

Trying to find the sunset in Edgewood, New Mexico

Out on a rural land photography assignment in Edgewood, New Mexico, I was warned by the land broker that access to this 5-acre property might be challenging.  It certainly was!  Barbed wire and gates blocked the first few access road, and the last, "legal access" point was down an eroded incline even too extreme for my Jeep Renegade Trailhawk!  I had to park at the top of the incline, then carry about 40 pounds of photographer gear, drone gear and my tripod for about a third of a mile first down that incline then up a rocky ridge.

Professional Food Photography of Albuquerque New Mexico - Twisters

ezCater is my latest food photography client here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  They are sending me to restaurants all over the city that provide catered food to make about 20 photos of their offerings.  The final shot, the "hero shot," as it is called, is getting as many of those potentially 20 dishes in the camera frame as possible.  If I got all of them in, every dish would look really small, not to mention there often is not space to make a shot like that as I shoot right in the regular customer area of the restaurant.  So I ask the restaurant owner which dishes are the ones she/he wants featured, then focus on getting as many of those as possible in the shot, like the one you see above.

Headshots for Office Staff at Express in Albuquerque New Mexico

I had not done an on-location headshot shoot for the staff of an office in quite some time because all my recent clients have been wanting to come to the JCP Home Studio here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  So last week I loaded up all my mobile studio gear onto my Rock N Roller multi-cart (model R10 if you wanted to know) and headed to Express Professionals near Uptown.  I had met one of their staff, Ruby, at a networking event.

Albuquerque Couple Headshots for Business with Heather & Cameron

Albuquerque Couple Headshots for Business with Heather & Cameron

I met Heather at a marketing seminar put on by good friend Roger of Beacon Marketing.  She contacted me about having headshots made, but for couples, and that she really liked the black background of some of my other headshots.  The black background is getting very popular with clients!  She owns W2 Welding with Cameron.  When photographing a couple who work together and have a personal relationship, I try to portray both in a single photo.  That means having some physical contact, but keeping the pose looking a bit formal and with a touch of, "we get things done, together!"  I think we were successful in conveying that with the photos we made in the JCP Home Studio here in Albuquerque, New Mexico!
