Having a headshot on your website gets more clients

In asking for feedback from a client about why that client chose me, among the multiple reasons given, the one that stood out to me was because I had a picture of myself on my website. This is the exact advice I give to many people I meet at networking events that have, to me, anonymous websites without their photo and sometimes even without their name anywhere on the site. If I meet you in person, I will go to your website later to follow up and seeing a modern, professional headshot helps me remember who I was talking to. If we have never met and I am seeking out a service or product, seeing the face of the actual person behind that business makes a big difference to me personally. I believe this is especially if your job involves working with people. People want to see who they will be working with, hiring, making a purchase from. This is one of many reason why having a modern, professional headshot is not only critical, but also the best value in marketing and branding there is!

Smiling Aspirational Professional Headshot in Albuquerque with Julie

Smiling Aspirational Professional Headshot in Albuquerque with Julie

Smile like Kimmy Schmidt!

It was a great pleasure to have as my last headshot shoot in the old JCP Home Studio, Julie, a returning client. There is nothing better than working with someone you know, and nothing more flattering than someone choosing my photographer services for a second (third, fourth, 20th) time. After we made some more traditional business headshots, Julie was open to getting more creative for some portraits. On her own she was looking up and smiling, which I thought was fantastic as the result is a Kimmy Schmidt looking asperatioanl portrait. It was my favorite one of the photo session! Thank you Julie for choosing me as your photographer again and I look forward to seeing you in the new and improved JCP Home Studio in the future!

Colorful professional actor headshots in ABQ

More and more actors are visiting the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico for modern and creative professional headshots. This time, in editing, I added a bit of color to this pair of headshots I made for James, which were originally shot on a white background. For the first photo, I sampled the background color from his hair, and below the blue from his shirt. Thank you James for choosing me as your headshot photographer as many other actors have to!

Albuquerque Civic Plaza Portrait Shoot

Christina was a former DSLR photo student of mine here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She contacted me about having portraits made out on location because she was actually now leaving ABQ. I had long been wanting to use Albuquerque Civic Plaza as a location so I was glad she agreed to my suggestion to shoot there. Even though it was a middle of the afternoon shoot, I used my new 42” Cheetahstand SoupBowl softbox to be able to shoot in the harsh lighting conditions in numerous spots around Civic Plaza. The water fountains, unfortunately, were not on, but everywhere else was free of passersby and there was no lack of spots to shoot at.

Senior Portraits in ABQ

Senior Portraits are not one of my specialties, but when I do have the chance to do them, I always try and add more own signature photo style to them. This shoot with Ryan came about because just a week earlier I photographed his dad at an engineering consulting company. He asked if I would photograph his son for his senior portraits. I was very flattered someone who had just met me, and was one of 70+ people I photographed that day for headshots, would ask me to make such important and personal photos (thanks Scott!). We met back on the grounds of the engineering company and utilized its great red bridge for the above mixed style photo: casual dress, outdoor location, basketball action! It was my suggestion to get the basketball involved in a nontraditional environment.

Candid Fun Creative Albuquerque Family Portraits at Highland Park

Candid Fun Creative Albuquerque Family Portraits at Highland Park

When a family is willing to have real fun in portraits

Earlier in my photography career, I regularly booked family portrait shoots specializing in my own signature candid style. Now I very rarely have family portrait shoots, and typically only for clients I have done other commercial photography work for, like Barb and Dr. Norm. When they asked me if I could do a Christmas Day shoot because that was the only time their entire family would be together, I said yes mostly because I really like them and knew it would be a fun time and I could push the envelope with getting some great candids. The photos in this collection are my own personal favorites from the shoot. The siblings in particular had fun with each other! We made very good use of Highland Park from top to bottom to climbing bars to the merry-go-round!
