More Creative Real Estate Photography than expected in Rio Rancho
This luxury real estate property in Rio Rancho, New Mexico was first featured in this blog post showing more traditional interior and exterior photos. What is offered here at Jason Collin Photography is far more than just the usual in real estate photography. Looking to push the boundaries of what creative real estate photography for luxury homes can be, at the end of the shoot I walk the entire property with a handheld 50mm lens looking for unique views of a room with a less wide field of view. This may result in a photo with a very shallow depth of field, or only the very corner of a room, or simply featuring the part of the bathroom a prospective buyer will find most relaxing. My goal is to always be more creative, more inventive, even in real estate photography.
A two day shoot at PianoWerkes in Albuquerque, New Mexico produced so many great images, this is the second blog post from those shoots (see showroom interior photos here). Having never really seen under the top of a piano before, I was instantly amazed at the detail to be found in the design. It’s not just a bunch of piano wires, there are sound hole openings, wooden braces, and embossed branding. After I got the main shots the client wanted, mostly for my own purposes, I went around with a 50mm lens and at times still some off camera lighting to get creative shallow depth of field shots that show pianos like one does not usually see. the client ended up liking these photos and purchasing them too!
Long time readers of Jason Collin Photography might recognize that striking purple DV10 liquid nitrogen tank. That’s because almost exactly one year to the day I photographed it first for BioLife Solutions. They have updated the look and branding on their mod pak product and needed professional product photography of it to go with the other product photos I made for them last year. Producing consistent results even a year apart is a service I am proud to offer clients who continue to choose me as their photographer. This was another fun and challenging shoot for BioLife Solutions. Thank you for being a great client!
Headshots for the interior designer herself on location
What better location for an interior designer to have a headshot shoot than in the space she designed herself? That is how we ended the interiors shoot I did for Bailey in Ruidoso. The natural light was so good in the space, I just put on my 50mm lens and made all these headshots without any off camera lighting. As always, I wanted to capture as much personality as possible, so there are some usual smiles and some laughing photos as well as unusual foreground composition headshots. Thank you Bailey for helping with the shoot and then being great in front of the camera for your headshots!
As a top three rated commercial photographer in Albuquerque, I mostly have business clients. However, I do enjoy having lifestyle photoshoots when people contact me like Indu did to make photos of her son as he turns 1 year old. We met in Altura Park (a location I have been using more and more) to make candid photos of her son. Since a 1 year old does not really ever sit still, it is my photography philosophy that it is best to just let the baby do what he/she wants and let me make candids that capture the baby’s personality. Maybe the smile will not be perfect, maybe the baby will almost never once even look directly into the camera, but the photos 20 years from now I really believe will make the parents smile more than a posed photo attempting perfection.
Luxury home photographed in flambient technique with 50mm too
Usually I am traveling for rural land real estate photography all over New Mexico, but this time it was for luxury residential real estateinterior photography for a luxury home designed by Bailey Bishop of Bailey Bishop Design. This was a long postponed shoot that was first scheduled for March, but then the pandemic started and it took until now for things to be safe for Bailey to travel from California to meet me for the shoot. It was also my first time to finally get to see Ruidoso. I was immediately impressed with the design of the rooms and knew it would be a shoot I could really showcase the flambient style of real estate interior photography. Always wanting to deliver as much creativity for clients as possible, I did not just use the amazing flambient technique. I also took my camera off the tripod, put on my Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART lens in order to make photos showing unique views of the rooms as well as detail shots of the numerous small touches Bailey put in her overall designs.
