My old Neighbor the Hospital
It was a sort of homecoming for me to photograph AMG Speciality Hospital in southeast Albuquerque, New Mexico as I lived essentially next door to it for two years. New photos were wanted of both the interiors and exterior of the hospital, plus I was told, anything I thought would make a good photo, like the photo of the get well cards below. Only up on the third floor, the view of the Sandia Mountains was eye popping coming out of the elevator! In a side note, as I arrived going up in the elevator with me was a woman also going to the third floor. Some 2+ hours later as I was carrying all my photo gear now packed up back to the elevator having finished the shoot, there was the same woman! We both remarked how statistically improbable that was! That kind of thing fascinates me! Read More
Creative angles to best show off city hotels
Thanks to a great referral from networking friend Coralee (she sells commercial real estate), I had the opportunity to photograph the San Mateo Inn which is under new management and in the process of improving its branding and marketing, the first step was getting professional commercial photographs of the interior and exterior of the hotel. It is my custom whenever possible to start with the exteriors, because you never know when the weather may change, so if it is good, then shoot the exteriors first! After that I made my way inside to photograph the lobby and guest areas. Read More
Using the sunset for commercial photography in ABQ
On a warm weekday evening in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I took my camera and tripod to The View ABQ apartment complex to make sunset HDR real estate photos, as well interior photos. This place certainly lives up to its name and with dramatic clouds and a bright sunset, I was given ample material to photograph and deliver to the client! Read More
All challenges in one real estate shoot & flight!
Almost every real estate photo and drone shoot in New Mexico has its challenges. And then sometimes a property has pretty much every challenge possible! That is the case with this home in Placitas, New Mexico being listed by Mark & Susan Ryerson. The first challenge as you can see from the above photo is that the front of the house is largely blocked by trees and it is up on a hill, so getting a direct front view shot was not really possible, not even with the drone. The interior had unique architecture, but somewhat small rooms with large furniture in them. Even using a 15mm lens I had to really search for angles I liked for the living room in particular. Then flying the drone itself, I never had a signal issue between the remote control and the drone until this flight, likely due to the massive power lines right behind the house, which also prevented flying from that direction. Then there was wind from being so close to the mountains and the aforementioned trees all around the house! Overall, this was one of the most challenging real estate shoots and drone flights I have ever done in the Albuquerque area. Thank you to Mark & Susan for their great help as they always provide on this shoot and flight! Read More
Get a sunroom!
This near Rio Rancho but actually still Albuquerque, New Mexico residential real estate property was actually the second property shoot of the day I did for Mark & Susan Ryerson. They are my favorite real estate agent clients to shoot for because they make shoots fun! I usually work with them on luxury real estate properties, like this one that sold in less than one week because they are great agents, and maybe also the professional photos and 4K drone video I made of the property, so there is no drone video of this property, but there are aerial drone photos. This property is quite unique I think because it has a sunroom! How many homes are you going to find in New Mexico with a sunroom like this? Read More
8325 Rio Grande Blvd NW Luxury Real Estate Horse Property
This was my second luxury real estate shoot for Mark & Susan Ryerson, and my fourth overall property I have photographed for them in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They are not just real estate agents on these shoots, they are photo assistants and drone visual observers making these photos and the video a true team effort on our part. That is why I recommend them as real estate agents. They are a dynamic husband and wife duo that are extremely professional and also very fun to be around Read More
Santa Fe Commercial Real Estate Photography
I had the pleasure and creative challenge of photographing the beautiful Inn of the Anasazi in historic downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. Each room, each space was full of architectural features, design touches, and soft light. The challenge was capturing that existing atmosphere with the right additional off camera lighting to show off the room or space such that is shows well in a photo, but maintains the tranquil and warm feel I had standing there. From the library, to the wine cellar, to the lobby, all throughout this inn I kept finding more and more incredible rooms to photograph using the flambient technique. Thank you very much to the staff of the Inn of the Anasazi for making this long shoot go very smoothly! Read More
