Drone Video Branding for showing off a new location in ABQ
My first shoot for PianoWerkes was back in December 2020 for their interior showroom, which was jam packed with pianos. Fast forward two years and PianoWerkes is now moving to a bigger location with more space for the pianos to breathe! The PianoWerkes team wanted to make a teaser video for the new location, showing its much different, and much better setting. I sent the drone up to capture this location and the exterior design of the building, all while someone was playing piano inside and other videographers were recording that! Thank you to PianoWerkes for continuing to choose me as their drone pilot and photographer!
Can I make a drone video of a dentist jumping over his staff in New Mexico? Yes, I can!
I was contacted by a dentist in Gallup, New Mexico with a very unusual drone video and photography idea. He told me that he wanted to both jump his dirt bike over his dental staff and then drive the dirt bike through his practice! Dr. Porter had me curious for sure! After some discussion about what was feasible that I could do both in terms of drone video, regular video, and still photography, we had the details set and I was off to Gallup where I spent the night to be ready for the early 7am start in the morning. Despite many “never done that before” shots, the morning went off nearly flawlessly and I was able to make all the content Dr. Porter wanted. Thank you to Dr. Porter and his entire team for being so great in front of the camera and the drone, and below the dirt bike!!
Commercial Photography for restaurant branding and marketing in ABQ
County Line Restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico basically sits atop the city nestled right up against the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. It made for a great setting as I visited the restaurant a different times over two days to make interior and exterior photos as well as a 4K drone video showing the restaurant in its stunning setting. I used a variety of shooting techniques to get the interior shots, likewise for the exterior shots. As a professional commercial photographer, I am not set on one particular style of shooting, but rather choose the best for the shooting environment that will get the best results for the client. So for the interiors, sometimes I used off camera lighting, sometimes HDR shots, and sometimes a single exposure worked best. It was great working with the team at County Line Restaurant to make this wide ranging series of dynamic visual content for their branding, marketing, and social media.
Mavic 3 Cine drone debut for the City of Albuquerque Baseball Park
My very first client for my new DJI Mavic 3 Cine drone was the City of Albuquerque itself making a promotional video of a baseball park on the westside of the city that offers great views of the Sandia Mountains. I was of course at the baseball park on an off-day with no games to being able to fly freely over, around, and through the park. From this ver first flight, the dramatically increased flight time of the Mavic 3 Cine over the Mavic 2 Pro was noticeable as I felt none of the stress of having to get in all the shots I wanted to before landing and changing batteries. The result of this, I can focus more on being creative for the client, uninterrupted by battery changes when flying the drone. Thank you Damian and the City of ABQ for a great opportunity to showcase the picturesque desert baseball fields.
Downtown Albuquerque like you have never seen before
Part of my drone photography work for WSI Web Enhancers took me to downtown Albuquerque at sunset to get beautiful, attention grabbing drone imagery for WSI to in turn wow their own client with. Mother Nature greatly cooperated with perfect clouds and warm setting sunlight to paint the view of downtown ABQ with, and for me to send up my DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone up to capture. I was west of the downtown skyline so I could provide both a more unique view of the city (most photos show it from the east) and also to have the Sandia Mountains serve as the backdrop. I am very excited to offer 360 panorama drone photos on Jason Collin Photography for my clients!
Out on a drone photography assignment for local Albuquerque, New Mexico business WSI Web Enhancers, I launched my drone from the top of a parking garage in downtown, set the photo mode to panorama sphere, and the above is the result. As a certified drone pilot for over 2 years, I regularly share drone content on Jason Collin Photography, but this is the first time to feature a 360 panorama photo! The drone did all the shooting itself. I flew it into position, and let the drone do its thing. The big challenge for me was, how to share this 360 panorama image on my site. I did a lot of research into this and found no clear process actually. After a while I came to find that I need to upload the huge panorama image the drone stitched together for me, to a website that will host the image and format it. Basically it’s like putting video on YouTube.
I was actually out scouting a location for a client (WSI Web Enhancers) for making a panoramicaerial drone photo, when with the last remaining battery life, I decided to give the new Hyperlapse mode a try. This very short 5 seconds of video took the drone over 4 minutes to make as every 2 seconds it took a photo, in total over 100 photos make up this 5 second clip! I will soon be going out making more purposeful (and longer) Hyperlapse videos of Albuqureque.
