Long time readers of the website may remember that back in 2018 I photographed Alex’s wedding. So it was a great way to end 2021 with Alex visiting the JCP Home Studio for a headshot session that was my very last photo shoot of the year. It is always the most flattering when friends choose me as their photographer. Thank you Alex for continuing to choose me as your photographer and to all my clients in 2021 for making it the biggest year ever for the photo business!
If you are a mountain biker in New Mexico, the trail name Dragon’s Back is probably known to you. It is my single favorite trail to ride in the state that I’ve found so far. If you just like to explore hidden gems and hike, this is also one of the most incredible landscapes in the world, not just New Mexico. Check out the range in topography and geological features the aerial drone photos reveal for this area. It truly is an alien or martian landscape. Is it hard to hike this trail? Not at all. After a bit of a steep incline from parking lot to trailhead, the tail is mostly a rolling trail that even a beginner hiker could do an out and back on. Pack for a longer hike and do the full loop to see the other side. This was also my first time flying my brand new DJI Mavic 3 Cine drone! It was really windy, but you could not tell that from the drone footage. I would like to come back with the drone and better light, and more practice flying it, to really show you what the Dragon’s Back Trail is like and how it definitely is a New Mexico True experience.
New ceramic artist brings her work for professional photographs in ABQ
Some of my favorite clients to work with are local New Mexico artists and I am always most flattered when an artist chooses me to photograph their work. Such was the case when Dee visited the JCP Home Studio with her ceramic artwork to get professional photos made for Etsy and art shows. She stayed for the entire shoot as I welcome artist input for getting the best angle of the pieces, after all, it is their work and they know it best! We worked together to make the best photos to show her work online and carefully chose the lighting and background, in addition to positioning the pieces. Check out Dee’s Etsy page to buy her work online, and even better, go in person to see her work and other artists too at an art show in Corrales, New Mexico on December 3rd, 4th, and 5th 2021. Thank you Dee for choosing me as your art photographer and I look forward to your next series!
High Impact and Creative Jewelry Product Photography in ABQ
This is part two (check out part one) of an extended jewelry and Rolex watch product photography shoot I did for Crown Jewels and Coin here at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Crown wanted high impact, high resolution photos of various pieces of jewelry to feature in a TV commercial they were making. Over the course of the shoot I made a variety of jewelry product shots featuring individual pieces, and group shots with nearly all the jewelry they brought all in one shot! In addition, we finished with a few hand modeling shots with the jewelry.
Thank you for making 2021 the best year ever for Jason Collin Photography
I am very fortunate to be able to say 2021 was the best year ever, by far, for Jason Collin Photography. Thank you so much to all the new clients in 2021, and a really big thank you to all the returning clients in 2021. I truly appreciate you choosing me as your photographer and drone pilot! For 2022 I have an all new, more capable drone (DJI Mavic 3 Cine) to produce even better aerial drone photos and video, and for photography clients, new lenses and improved editing techniques will make photos in 2022 better than ever.
Early in my photography career when I was living in St. Petersburg, Florida, back around 2010, I used to teach a lot of photography lessons because DSLR cameras were just starting to be bought and used by non-pro-photographers, i.e. enthusiasts and hobbyists, and who the heck could figure out how to use something with a dozen buttons on it? So a couple times a week I’d spent 2 hours with someone walking the streets of St. Pete teaching them my 5-stop process for shooting in manual mode while finding interesting things to make photos of.
Visiting the New Mexico Legal Group with mobile photo studio setup
On a rainy morning I visited the New Mexico Legal Group office in Albuquerque, New Mexico to make headshots for some of lawyers and team members after having first photographed McKenzie here at the JCP Home Studio. Her coworkers saw her headshot and having liked it, hired me to come make headshots for six more people. The rain thwarted making a group photo outside, so I look forward to seeing everyone at the NMLG team again soon for another fun photo shoot. Thank you Fairuza, McKenzie, and everyone else at NMLG for choosing me as your team headshot photographer!
