It was a long time coming, but Suzie was finally able to visit the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a headshot session! We had first talked several months ago, so I was glad when Suzie texted and said do you have any time available this morning?? Luckily I did and got the studio lights setup in a hurry! Like many clients, Suzie was not exactly thrilled at the prospect of having her photo taken, but had to. We tried a couple different lighting setups and backgrounds, before ending up with this seated position on a black background. It is my job to find the right style and look to make my headshot clients feel comfortable during the photo session and be thrilled with the results! It is my goal to be the best luxury real estate photographer and drone pilot in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area, and really the entire state. I continued this pursuit working for Mark & Susan Ryerson on this unique property nestled on the east side of the Sandia Mountains in the Sandia Crest area. This property was photographed and listed previously and did not sell, in part due to the below average quality of the photographs. On a recent multi-day rural land real estate photo shoot in Navajo Dam, New Mexico, there was free time one day for an afternoon trip up to nearby Durango, Colorado where Jessica and I pretty much stumbled upon Pinkerton Hot Springs. Right on the side of the highway sits this natural hot spring that you can take your shoes off and dip your toes in the warm water burbling up from somewhere way down below. Usually these natural hot springs require a hike or at least a small trek to reach. This one though, you can drive right up to! It's a small hidden gem worth stopping for if you are ever near or in Durango, Colorado!
I am proud to be a member of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce so when they asked me to make updated headshots for new staff members and ambassadors, I was very happy to do so. They wanted the same style and look as their previous headshots, which meant having the U.S. and New Mexico flags in the background. Having seen the outdoor location used for the old headshots, I suggested we take things indoors and control the harsh daylight that was visible in the semi-covered outdoor hallway that was used before. This allowed me to get consistent results over a long shoot without worrying about the sun changing the ambient light and adding more or less shadow to the background.
What an event at Floor and Decor of Albuquerque, New Mexico! It seems people did not believe them when they said they really were giving away a brand new 2018 Chevy pickup truck! Well, with sales tax even paid too, they gave it away and Wizard won! I was talking with him just minutes before his raffle ticket number was called to be one of the five finalists for a chance to win the truck. He is a very nice guy and his motorcycle club advocates for children so he is a very deserving winner! This also made it seem more exciting to me having just met him a few minutes prior so it was not a completely anonymous winner to me. There were lots of other prizes, and I even won a Yeti cooler! Amazing job by Floor and Decor. This was one of the top events of the year in Albuquerque!
I met Adam a while back at an event for the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce. We stayed in touch via email, and continued to run into each other at other Chamber events and at 1 Million Cups ABQ too. It was finally a good time for him to visit the JCP Home Studio and bring his two start up partners Ron and Michael. They wanted some uniformity to the headshots in terms of feel, look, and smile, while of course still making each person show their own personality. I think we were successful in getting three headshots that look alike in general, but have individuality to them as well!
In a way I feel like the area east of the Sandia Mountains is kind of like the dark side of the moon -- it is a place not many ever see, yet it is right there. Cedar Crest, New Mexico is on the dark side of the moon, or rather east of the Sandia Mountains and has that feeling of being quite removed from the hustle and bustle of Albuquerque, but it is really close by.
