Creative Commercial Portraits at Hotel Parq Central in Albuquerque

Creative Commercial Portraits at Hotel Parq Central in Albuquerque

Creative and Covid-19 safe Commercial Portraits in ABQ

It often happens when I shoot at a great new location for the first time, like the Hotel Parq Central, other clients see those photos and want to use it as a location too! Such was the case for Marian, and since she was coming all the way from Ruidoso and needed a hotel to stay at anyway, it was very convenient for her to just take the elevator down right to our shooting location! The purpose of the shoot was to create commercial portraits that were not too corporate or like other traditional speaker photos, especially for speakers who speak about librarians. As you can see, not a single bookcase in any of these photos! In a relatively short time, I was able to make a large variety of photos for Marian thanks to her being open to my ideas, the well designed areas of the hotel, and the unique perspectives a 50mm f/1.4 lens creates. In fact, I never did a shoot this varied exclusively with a 50mm lens before.

Jason buys a house in Albuquerque!

Jason buys a house in Albuquerque!

First time homeowner by default

It was not at all like how I thought my first home buying experience would be, but after a 3-month long ordeal, I am now a first time homeowner! We had been renting this house for a year and agreed to sign another 1-year lease. Well, just before we could do that the owner decides to sell the house! So it is either buy the house, or move! And that is how I became a home owner. No being courted by real estate agents, no discovering your dream home, no holding a sold sign, just kind of happened out of necessity. It’s a great house, in a fantastic location in Albuquerque, and will continue to be the home of Jason Collin Photography for the near future. Too bad we cannot even have a house warming party due to Covid-19!

Taos Luxury Real Estate Drone Video 360 Pano Photo New Mexico

Taos luxury real estate drone video

Any chance I get to go up to Taos, however brief, is welcome. One a recent afternoon, a client wanted me to make drone video and a 360 panorama aerial drone photo of his luxury home he was planning to sell, even before he had hired a real estate agent! He knew himself the value of drone video in selling a property like his, as he was hoping to attract an out of state and even out of country buyer. The drone video shows the whole property in context with the Taous mountains providing the background. Likewise, the 360 panorama drone aerial photo lets the viewer look around the property as they wish from the drone’s view. Thank you Gary for choosing me as your drone pilot and I hope your property sells quickly!

Luxury Residential Real Estate Interior Commercial Photography Ruidoso New Mexico

Luxury home photographed in flambient technique with 50mm too

Usually I am traveling for rural land real estate photography all over New Mexico, but this time it was for luxury residential real estate interior photography for a luxury home designed by Bailey Bishop of Bailey Bishop Design. This was a long postponed shoot that was first scheduled for March, but then the pandemic started and it took until now for things to be safe for Bailey to travel from California to meet me for the shoot. It was also my first time to finally get to see Ruidoso. I was immediately impressed with the design of the rooms and knew it would be a shoot I could really showcase the flambient style of real estate interior photography. Always wanting to deliver as much creativity for clients as possible, I did not just use the amazing flambient technique. I also took my camera off the tripod, put on my Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART lens in order to make photos showing unique views of the rooms as well as detail shots of the numerous small touches Bailey put in her overall designs.

Professional business headshots on location in Albuquerque

Lisa is new to Albuquerque and needed a new professional business headshot. She wanted as safe of a Covid-19 headshot shoot as possible, so we chose an outdoor location, Altura Park, for our shoot. During the shoot I wore a mask and maintained social distancing shooting with my Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master lens that has fantastic image quality, creamy bokeh, and allows me to stay quite a distance from the person I am photographing. Thank you Lisa for meeting at the park and to Jessica for assisting on the shoot.

Covid-19 Safe at Nob Hill hair salon in Albuquerque

On my fourth shoot for Felicia of Amity A Hair Place in the Nob Hill area of Albuquerque, New Mexico, she wanted a photo of her wearing a mask showing how things are open in a Covid-19 safe way at her hair salon. I also took the opportunity to make a few quick interior photos of Amity in between her client appointments. Felicia is also my hair stylist in full disclosure. I like going to Amity because there are just two salon chairs there, it is a relaxed environment, and of course Felicia is great at cutting and styling hair and now she is doing it in a Covid-19 safe way!

Smokey the Bear is from New Mexico

Smokey the Bear is from New Mexico

Smokey the Bear spokesanimal for preventing forest fires!

A recent commercial interior photo shoot took me to Ruidoso, New Mexico for the firs time, which in turn by taking the scenic route took me to Capitan, New Mexico which to my great surprise is the home of the real Smokey the Bear! Who knew? Smokey has his own historic park detailing his life story. His life definitely started out very sad, being orphaned in a forest fire and being found burned and clinging to a tree (see photo below). This early tragedy led him to a life as an ambassador for the forest serivce and a spokesanimal for preventing forest fires. He served in this role for 25 years! What an amazing story and to discover it right here in New Mexico.
