Black Sage Tech already had consistent headshots for all its team members. So what to do when adding a new employee? They chose to contact me to match the style of the headshots they already had for their new local Albuquerque team member. Randy visited the JCP Home Studio and having received the link to the team page for how to match the headshot, I had everything ready for when Randy arrived for a Covid-19 safe headshot shoot so that he was in studio less than 10 minutes. It also helped that Randy was great in front of the camera!
Very early in the morning, before patients even arrived, I was at the SCA Surgical Center in the Presbyterian Hospital in central Albuquerque, New Mexico with my Sony a7R IV on a tripod making commercial interior photos of every area from the lobby right to the surgery room itself! I often say how my photography work for Jason Collin Photography takes me to places I would never normally see, and this surgery center is one of them. Being in an empty hospital setting so early in the morning (sunrise time) was definitely a unique experience fo me and circumstances to be making photos in. I enjoyed the views of the Sandia Mountains normally only reserved for recovering patients. Thank you to Kelli for helping me get in and out of the required scrubs, and for making the shoot go smoothly!
Reaching the near impossible for rural land real estate photography
In March I made a difficult 10 mile drive down very rough roads to reach several rural land real estate properties in El MorroCibola County New Mexico. I was hoping on my return in a fairer weather month the roads and conditions would be better, but in fact they were worse with more mud and more exposed lava rock to carefully find a way over in my Jeep! At least I had the experience of making the drive already to know what to expect. I detailed my first experience driving out there in great detail in this blog post. Thankfully, when I finally reached the properties (neither had a road to it, I had to drive across open desert) I was treated to good skies, clouds, and ultimately, a very nice sunset to make the headline images that help my client sell his rural land real estate fast.
Graduation Photos that stand out from the rest at Hotel Parq Central
Recent grad Josh wanted different, out of the box, more creative graduation photos. Using the fabulous Hotel Parq Central as a location here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I was able to make for Josh the kinds of creative, Instagram-ready photos he wanted. That is what I offer clients of Jason Collin Photography, creative photography that stands out from other photographers in the city. I am able to make such standout photos for clients because of my high technical competence with off camera lightingon location, combined with on the spot, instant creativity based on the person and the environment. I had been wanting to try out the hyperlapse recording mode on my Mavic 2 Pro drone again for a while, so after seeing interesting skies, I got the drone up in the air to record my second hyperlapse. It had been too long since I made the first one because I totally forgot, again, that at default settings for hyperlapse, even though the drone makes 125 photos over 4 minutes to make the hyperlapse video, it turns out to be just 4 seconds of moving video! I also made a few still aerial drone photos of the stunning clouds catching the last of the light of dusk at twilight.
Hustling to 20 properties in the Socorro County Desert
Typically on rural land real estate shoots for Hemingway Land, it is one property, one evening, starting about 2 hours before actual sunset, making 40 photos of the one property and often a drone video as well. Every now and then they get a bulk purchase and the shooting is very different like on a recent trip to Socorro County, New Mexico. There were 20 properties to shoot, I had to start early in the afternoon in order to finish with enough light, and I only made 3 photos per property. During these bulk shoots I am hustling like crazy from property to property, passing cows and big piles of tires truly out in the middle of nowhere miles from paved road, which in turn is miles from any kind of town. How do these tires get out here??
Justin wanted variety in his business headshots so we started with an on location headshot shoot in Altura Park and finished with in studio shots here at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I strive with every shoot to make the best headshots in Albuquerque, and I really like challenges like this to back-to-back get headshots results the same regardless of shooting out in a park or in my studio. Justin made things easy being great in front of the camera and having an assistant (thanks Jessica) for on location shoots just is a level of service I want to offer discerning clients who want the best headshot photoshoot experience. Now Justin has unique green background headshots, along with white and black background in studio headshots to choose from!
