Professional business headshots on location in Albuquerque
Lisa is new to Albuquerque and needed a new professional business headshot. She wanted as safe of a Covid-19 headshot shoot as possible, so we chose an outdoor location, Altura Park, for our shoot. During the shoot I wore a mask and maintained social distancing shooting with my Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master lens that has fantastic image quality, creamy bokeh, and allows me to stay quite a distance from the person I am photographing. Covid-19 Safe at Nob Hill hair salon in Albuquerque
On my fourth shoot for Felicia of Amity A Hair Place in the Nob Hill area of Albuquerque, New Mexico, she wanted a photo of her wearing a mask showing how things are open in a Covid-19 safe way at her hair salon. I also took the opportunity to make a few quick interior photos of Amity in between her client appointments. Felicia is also my hair stylist in full disclosure. I like going to Amity because there are just two salon chairs there, it is a relaxed environment, and of course Felicia is great at cutting and styling hair and now she is doing it in a Covid-19 safe way!
Smokey the Bear spokesanimal for preventing forest fires!
A recent commercial interior photo shoot took me to Ruidoso, New Mexico for the firs time, which in turn by taking the scenic route took me to Capitan, New Mexico which to my great surprise is the home of the real Smokey the Bear! Who knew? Smokey has his own historic park detailing his life story. His life definitely started out very sad, being orphaned in a forest fire and being found burned and clinging to a tree (see photo below). This early tragedy led him to a life as an ambassador for the forest serivce and a spokesanimal for preventing forest fires. He served in this role for 25 years! What an amazing story and to discover it right here in New Mexico.
Black Sage Tech already had consistent headshots for all its team members. So what to do when adding a new employee? They chose to contact me to match the style of the headshots they already had for their new local Albuquerque team member. Randy visited the JCP Home Studio and having received the link to the team page for how to match the headshot, I had everything ready for when Randy arrived for a Covid-19 safe headshot shoot so that he was in studio less than 10 minutes. It also helped that Randy was great in front of the camera!
Very early in the morning, before patients even arrived, I was at the SCA Surgical Center in the Presbyterian Hospital in central Albuquerque, New Mexico with my Sony a7R IV on a tripod making commercial interior photos of every area from the lobby right to the surgery room itself! I often say how my photography work for Jason Collin Photography takes me to places I would never normally see, and this surgery center is one of them. Being in an empty hospital setting so early in the morning (sunrise time) was definitely a unique experience fo me and circumstances to be making photos in. I enjoyed the views of the Sandia Mountains normally only reserved for recovering patients. Thank you to Kelli for helping me get in and out of the required scrubs, and for making the shoot go smoothly!
Reaching the near impossible for rural land real estate photography
In March I made a difficult 10 mile drive down very rough roads to reach several rural land real estate properties in El MorroCibola County New Mexico. I was hoping on my return in a fairer weather month the roads and conditions would be better, but in fact they were worse with more mud and more exposed lava rock to carefully find a way over in my Jeep! At least I had the experience of making the drive already to know what to expect. I detailed my first experience driving out there in great detail in this blog post. Thankfully, when I finally reached the properties (neither had a road to it, I had to drive across open desert) I was treated to good skies, clouds, and ultimately, a very nice sunset to make the headline images that help my client sell his rural land real estate fast.
Graduation Photos that stand out from the rest at Hotel Parq Central
Recent grad Josh wanted different, out of the box, more creative graduation photos. Using the fabulous Hotel Parq Central as a location here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I was able to make for Josh the kinds of creative, Instagram-ready photos he wanted. That is what I offer clients of Jason Collin Photography, creative photography that stands out from other photographers in the city. I am able to make such standout photos for clients because of my high technical competence with off camera lightingon location, combined with on the spot, instant creativity based on the person and the environment.
