Read MoreOne of the largest commercial photo shoots I have ever done was this past week at Bohannan Huston, a consulting firm specializing in engineering, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was over four hours of shooting on each of two days. Yet thanks to the great staff and their preparation, it went incredibly smoothly. So well that despite near tropical storm level winds on the second day of the shoot negating the ability to make candid commercial portraits outdoors like on the first day of the shoot, that finding a cool indoor setting was as easy as walking over to the neighboring building and using the psychedelic art tapestry background created by one of their own employees.

When she needed a new business headshot for Giant, I was glad she called me! During our business headshot photo session I flipped the background from white to black to offer Pepper two very different looks for her headshots. Combined with beauty dish lighting, I was able to make a modern headshot that will standout from all the dated business headshots people are still using. It is my goal to for everyone to have a creative and modern headshot to represent themselves, their brand, and their business at their best to clients and customers.

Being a full-time professional photographer in Albuquerque, New Mexico means I have the flexibility in my schedule to fit in a last minute headshot, right before I had one scheduled late in the afternoon on a Friday. I had everything ready at the JCP Home Studio for when Angel arrived to make a creative headshot for her, but also having it be an efficient shoot so I could still have time to edit the photos before the deadline she needed the photos for her job. The convenience of the JCP Home Studio is being able to look at her photos on my 27” 4K monitor right after the shoot for quick selection of the shots she liked best. She chose one black background and one white background for maximum flexibility using it online.
Read MoreIn bookend visits to Monument Valley in Utah, I made a lot of photos being there for sunset one evening, then sunrise the next morning. I had time during these two forays into this stunning environment to look for other shots besides sweeping landscape photos, like this one with a twisted tree. There was so much movement and texture in this gnarled tree that I wanted to find a way to photograph it that really made it come through the frame. I set my camera on my tripod at its lowest leg extension for a below standing eye level perspective. This eerie tree composed this way as to obscure the beauty of the mesas creating a contrast in visuals.

Check out the head to toe headshots and the commercial portraits I made for these attorneys and their staff. Continuing with the theme I had for the entire shoot, that lawyer headshots and photos do not have to look stern and serious, I tried to get as much personality and some friendliness in the lawyers in particular to come out in their headshots. It was a little easier with the law firm staff to smile not surprisingly!
Read MoreWhile out on a rural land real estate photo shoot in Belen, New Mexico, I made some new friends. My dog, Kiki, was with me on this desert shoot as she often is. I noticed that she was noticing something in the distance to the east. I was focused on the west getting ready to make my signature HDR sunset shots. In the far distance I saw two animals moving. I thought they were cows as those are the most common large animal sighting in that area. One was really white though and I thought that is an odd coloring for a cow. Looking closer I saw they were in fact horses. I had already been to that area of the property and knew there was a barbed wire fence. I wondered if they would jump over it?
