I first met Darrell when he came to my Home Studio for a headshot session in December of last year. I was very happy to hear he wanted me to be his family's portrait photographer this time. I was extra excited because after shooting dozens of families in Florida for sunset beach photos, this would be my first family desert sunset portrait session!
Having just photographed Albuquerque, New Mexico Mayor Tim Keller twelve days ago at the grand opening for General Atomics, this morning I got to make actual portraits of him as he gets ready to play in a Duke City Gladiators exhibition football game. Jessica went with me to assist for the shoot right in the mayor's office! What I did not know was the amount of other people that would be there and the limited time to setup we would have. These are the challenges of the professional photographer!
I have known Roger for awhile now having first met him at a networking event in Albuquerque, New Mexico last year. We have gotten together a few times for 1-on-1 chats about running your own small business. He owns and operates Beacon Marketing, be sure to check it out if you are behind on doing your marketing by yourself, he can help you by doing it for you in a much more efficient and strategic way.
Malibu has long been a mythical place to me. It is mentioned in songs, it evokes memories of old surfer movies from the 1950s, it is where I know many celebrities and sports stars currently live, and I know from studying its geography it is close to LA, but still a good drive, thus offering relative access, but far enough away to be its own world. To get to it one is treated to a stunning drive on the PCH with the Santa Monica Mountains to one side and the vastness of the Pacific Ocean on the other.
Deanna and Eric of Keller Williams Reality told me about this spot they wanted to use for commercial real estate portraits out near Petroglyphs in Albuquerque New Mexico. It is at the end of a cul-de-sac and offers views of the Sandia Mountains. Its wide landscape allows for a variety of shots. I have already used this same spot for a car drone video shoot I liked it so much!
One quickly discovers walking around Venice Beach (I did nearly 8 miles of walking in one day!) that it is a city of many murals. Some can take up the entire side of a 3-story building, like in the above, and are very public and visible. That would seem to make the most sense to put a mural where many people can see it.
Elle and her dad came over to the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque New Mexico for a social media portrait session. She is going to have her own YouTube Channel in the near future and wanted a variety of different photos for showcasing in social media. We went through five different outfit changes and thus five totally different scenarios! Taekwondo is above!
