Having just photographed Albuquerque, New Mexico Mayor Tim Keller twelve days ago at the grand opening for General Atomics, this morning I got to make actual portraits of him as he gets ready to play in a Duke City Gladiators exhibition football game. Jessica went with me to assist for the shoot right in the mayor's office! What I did not know was the amount of other people that would be there and the limited time to setup we would have. These are the challenges of the professional photographer!
Fortunately, I just got some great new lighting gear from CheetahStand, two 12"x55" Quick StripBoxes that setup in no time. I had practiced the type of shot I wanted to make of Mayor Keller on myself a few days earlier, so even with minimal time to setup and a very small space with lots of people around, I was able to get the photo I had envisioned for the Mayor.
Majority owner of the Gladiators team, John Lopez, was on hand too whom I had met at other networking events before. There was just enough space for him and his partner and the mayor between the Strip Boxes for a small group portrait, and just before 10am when the Mayor had his next meeting!
It was a real rush being a part of the Mayor's very busy schedule this morning and making these portraits!
The exhibition game on Saturday March 10th has free general admission, so be sure and come out and support the Duke City Gladiators and see Mayor Keller play wide receiver! Look for me on the sidelines with my Nikon too getting some in-game action shots!
