Adapting on location to get professional product shots of cannabis in ABQ
You might be surprised how often I have no idea what type of photography situation I will be getting into upon arriving at a client’s location. That’s one of the things that makes a pro photographer a pro, is being able to get good results in any conditions, changing conditions, and challenging conditions. Such was the case with Ironfist Cannabis, where we started out shooting right where the cannabis plants themselves were growing, but had to pivot to trimming the tops off and using a studio background and off camera lighting setup to get the results you see here. This also taught me that I cannot again shoot indoors on location at such a place as the odor from the plants lingers to this day still in some of my photo gear! Thank you to Javier for helping with the shoot on site. This was also the first chance to use my new snoot to really focus the light only on part of the plants. This was my second visit to New Mexico Legal Group here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we had a very far ranging photo shoot from new team headshots, to better than stock photos, to candid group shots both indoors and out. Political Campaign photography with real voters in Albuquerque
Making candid photos is one of my favorite things to do as a photographer, so when past client Athena Christodoulou contacted me about meeting her at a Bosque political event to make candid photos of her talking with voters, I thought this is a great chance to use the natural environment without walls to make some truly unique images for her campaign. Athena was able to talk with a variety of people, even someone with a dog (always a photography win), with several different backgrounds. She also changed jackets to add variety to the candid shots. Many people contact me here in Albuquerque, New Mexico needing last minute headshots which I always try and accommodate as much as possible. Such was the case with Stefan and luckily the scheduling worked out just in time for us to have the headshot photo session, for me to edit them, and then for me to send him his secure online gallery. Stefan started out with a white background, but found he liked the gray background much more and chose two headshots using it. This is why I always encourage clients to try at least two different backgrounds as you never know what you may end up liking the best! Commercial Photography for restaurant branding and marketing in ABQ
County Line Restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico basically sits atop the city nestled right up against the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. It made for a great setting as I visited the restaurant a different times over two days to make interior and exterior photos as well as a 4K drone video showing the restaurant in its stunning setting. I used a variety of shooting techniques to get the interior shots, likewise for the exterior shots. As a professional commercial photographer, I am not set on one particular style of shooting, but rather choose the best for the shooting environment that will get the best results for the client. So for the interiors, sometimes I used off camera lighting, sometimes HDR shots, and sometimes a single exposure worked best. It was great working with the team at County Line Restaurant to make this wide ranging series of dynamic visual content for their branding, marketing, and social media.

Since I offer tethered shooting for in studio, being able to see her photos live on a big screen helped us get the exact right expressions and looks she wanted without the need for an inconvenient proofing gallery.
