Sunset Fine Art Photography of Bird Rock along 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach
This April evening out at Bird Rock on 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach, California was a rare to the horizon sunset view. I took just my Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM lens, for a different perspective from the typical wide sunset shots. As I was letting the sun go down, I photographed these small flowers first (see the photo story). Many large rocks just off shore in this area function as bird rookeries, so I wonder why this one gets the distinction as bird rock? Maybe it was the first to be named so? As you can see in the background of some of the photos, there are lots of birds that do not get to live this close to where they go hunting during the day and have to fly further down the coastline. How did these birds get to be so lucky? All questions I ask myself!
Headshot shoot tailored for LinkedIn in Pacific Grove California
Natalie contacted me about headshots for her LinkedIn profile. I told her I have photographed dozens of people looking just for better headshots for their own LinkedIn profiles. She came to the photo studio here in Pacific Grove and starting on a white background we found a pose she really liked, so when switching to a black background, we just tried to replicate that pose as much as possible! When you know what you like, you know what you like! Thank you for choosing me as your headshot photographer Natalie!
CSUMB Event Photography when everyone meets for the first time!
It was not just me for the first time meeting all the MBA graduates at CSUMB in Monterey California as I went there for event photography of their graduation ceremony, it was all the graduates first time meeting each other too because it was an entirely online program! So there was the extra excitement of seeing each other in person for the first time, as well as receiving their degrees at this special awards ceremony just for their online MBA program. All that made it a very fun and lively event to photograph first getting some candids as they arrived, then the ceremony photos, and then some group photos with each class getting their chance to celebrate in a group portrait out on the front steps of the very cool looking building entryway at CSUMB. Thank you to the team at CSUMB for choosing me as the photographer for this exciting event!
Headshots for 30 Berkeley Staff Members at Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove California
Some members of Berkeley were coming here to Pacific Grove for a conference at Asilomar Conference Grounds and wanted team headshots of everyone in attendance. This is something I specialize in, making efficient, creative, and consistent headshots for dozens of people while attending a conference. I bring my mobile studio setup for headshots so that everyone gets the same great headshot as if they were at my own photo studio in town. I even shoot tethered to my laptop so each person can proof in real time their headshot, and give the final seal of approval on it. Thank you to the team on site for making it a very smooth shoot, and thank you to Melissa for assisting on the shoot!
In Studio and Out on the Street Branding Shoot for a Local DJ and Music Producer
For just my second shoot in the new photo studio in Pacific Grove, it was an evening personal branding photo shoot for local DJ and producer Jason Kushy (check out his music on Spotify and everywhere else). He was fine with the studio being in nowhere near final form and setup. He was also very excited and passionate about the shoot, which I appreciated. We started out in studio getting a series of photos of a certain look, before heading out into the early night onto Forest Ave right in the heart of downtown Pacific Grove for some light trail shots and street vibe images. As you can see below, Jason has already put the images from the shoot up on his Spotify profile. It was a great personal branding photo shoot and I look forward to working with Jason again on making more images for his music career! Thank you Jason for choosing me as your photographer and for the great 5-star review too!
Luxury Carmel California Airbnb Property with its own Putting Green!
First, thank you to Adelle of Murrer Construction for introducing me to Bill and Penny to photograph their amazing luxury Airbnb property in Carmel, California. It was Adelle’s team that did this amazing renovation to the house and exterior. Properties like this are a pleasure to photograph to highlight all the details that went into the design and then staging of each room. This Airbnb has four bedrooms and so much outdoor living space! Which kitchen is better, the one in the house or the one out on the patio?? Then if you want to get in some golf practice before you go to the course, there is a large putting green for a backyard! I sent the drone up to show the property from a bird’s eye view, as well as to show its proximity to Carmel Beach and Pebble Beach Golf Resort. When guests see the listing on Airbnb, they will know from up close and nearby what they get when they choose to rent this amazing Airbnb! Thank you again Adelle, Bill, and Penny!
Monterey Food Photography photo shoot for Grubhub at Lighthouse Bistro
I had not done a shoot for Grubhub in a very long time, so when the opportunity came up to go to Lighthouse Bistro in New Monterey, I took it. These are basic food shoots, following the guidelines provided using just natural window light with a bit of reflector bounce and shooting ten meals plus a hero shot in less than an hour! This is a new restaurant that just opened up in May 2025 with a friendly staff that was fun to work win in making these shots. I got to take both the pasta dish and the hummus home too!
