A Studio Headshot Session with Real Team Energy

It was a real treat to have Dr. Jamie and her team visit my photo studio in Pacific Grove, CA for team headshots and a team photo as well! I mostly have individuals come to the studio for headshots, as it is not the biggest studio in the world, but for 5 people it worked out well. So that each person could still have their own individual style shoot, it was only one person at a time in the studio, while everyone else waited out in the lobby. Then after each person was happy with the headshot we made, the rest of the team came in and was super supportive of the image made of that team member, adding reassurance and encouragement! These genuine feelings for each other showed up in one of the best team photos I have ever made (see below)! I liked it so much I put it immediately on the home page of my website in my very select home page portfolio gallery.

A Collaborative Campaign Headshot Session in Pacific Grove

Burcu Mousa (see the headshots I made for her on her campaign website) contacted me about making headshots and branding photos for her campaign to be Auditor-Controller for Monterey County. She visited my photo studio in downtown Pacific Grove, California bringing with her a number of wardrobe changes and I had reggae already playing per her request when I asked her what music vibe she wanted for her photo shoot! This was a fun, collaborative shoot, and yes, having a professional photo session matters because elections are visual. Since I shoot tethered to a 43” screen, Burco and I went through shot by shot during the session getting each headshot and branding photo just right in terms of lighting, background, and expression. She also changed wardrobe several times to match with the background and intention of each photo. In less than an hour long session, we were able to create 10 images she personally chose and that some of which are already up on her website! I really enjoy working with candidates running for political office. It definitely adds a little kind of extra buzz to the photo shoot in my mind! Thank you Burcu for choosing me as your photographer and trusting me to make the visuals that will be used in your campaign!

On-Location Team Headshots and Family Business Portraits in Pacific Grove, California

This was my fourth overall shoot for Waveform, including both photography and drone video, but it was the first time photographing the owners, Ryan and Katelyn, along with their team. In the past, I had photographed examples of the work they do for their clients. This time, I visited their Pacific Grove warehouse office with my mobile studio setup to create professional on-location headshots for each team member.

My first young actor headshot session with Joseph was back in April of this year. How much can things change in 8 months, well, just take a look at the photos from that first shoot! When he arrived with his mom, Kristen, to my photo studio in Pacific Grove, I noticed right away and the style of headshot shoot we did this time reflected the new roles that Joseph is now ready to take on by looking older. Kristen had sent me some guidelines from Joseph’s agent for this shoot helping me prep the studio for the new style of headshots the agent wanted this time. For this session, I shot with a single light, and Joseph was seated on a posing stool for most of them, and then the biggest change was shooting with a shallower DoF and tighter in. Then, the agent provided guidelines wanting a more natural look, so a bit of imperfection in the hair for example was actually good! I really like the results we got in a session that took less than an hour, but yet still yielded a variety of backgrounds, wardrobe, poses, and expressions, as well as glasses on and off. Thank you Joseph and Kristen for continuing to choose me your headshot photographer!

I welcome headshots clients to my photography studio in Pacific Grove, California to have a relaxed, and even fun photo session experience. Christina sent example headshots that were helpful in me preparing the studio before she even arrived so when she did, all was ready to go to make headshots that matched the examples, but still with my own signature style and quality. This in turn allowed Christina to get headshots she liked so much she gave the photo session a 5 star review (see below) and it also did not take up up more than 15 minutes of her time. Shooting tethered for live reviewing helps get the right smile each time!

Natalie and her husband visited my photo studio in downtown Pacific Grove for a series of new headshots for her. Natalie was looking for a couple of specific levels of smile in her headshots. Since I shoot tethered she was able to review each headshot we made in real time on a 43” screen. This allowed us to get the particular smile she wanted for each headshot as we shot on two different backgrounds (white and gray) and with a couple of different poses as well. This is one big benefit I offer headshot clients, the chance to see each headshot as we go through the photo shoot so we work together to get the exact headshot they want. Fadi visited my photo studio right in downtown Pacific Grove for updated professional headshots. He brought several different shirts, ties, and jackets. Since I shoot tethered to a 43” screen, he was able to see which shirt, tie, jacket combo he liked best in real time allowing him to get the looks he liked best during his studio experience. The flexibility of my studio for headshots allows getting different wardrobe changes all within just a 30 minute photo session, not taking up a lot of time for the client, while still having a fun and creative time in front of the camera.
