Letting actors shine during their headshot photo session in ABQ
Right from the moment Hillary walked into the JCP Home Studio here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I knew this was going to be a high energy and dynamic actor headshot photoshoot. More and more actors are choosing Jason Collin Photography for their headshots, and I really appreciate it! When someone has an outgoing personality like Hillary’s, I just get the lighting right, have my camera ready, and let them do their thing. That’s how in less than an hour photo session we were able to create so many different headshot looks, with wardrobe changes, some lighting changes, and some background color changes too. This was a super fun shoot and I look forward to working with Hillary again and maybe even collaborating too! Thank you Hillary for choosing me for your actor headshots. Check out Hillary’s Instagram too!
Secretary of Energy Granholm is all over Albuquerque
Not one, but two events on one day photographing Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm right here in Albuquerque, New Mexico was how I spent a recent Wednesday. These were the first real events I photographed since the pandemic started. The first event was hosted by SWEEP and took place near a residential building in SE ABQ. The spectral lighting made it tough to get good looking photos from a photography perspective, but as you can see from the photo below, my camera was not the only one there dealing with that challenge! The next event was at Kairos Power, which is a new client of mine I did a lot of headshots for just the prior week. This time they invited me back to photograph Secretary Granholm on a tour of the facility. Many of those photos can be used in house only because of the propriety content in them, but I am able to share a few of the tour photos, ending with a creative shot of the Secretary ending a long day in ABQ!
Before and After Drone Video for Sunland Asphalt in Belen New Mexico
Back flying for Sunland Asphalt, this time in Belen, New Mexico, I made two visits to Vista del Rio for a “before and after” drone video showing the crew at work putting in the new asphalt, and then the after of the fully repaved community. These types of drone flights are always dynamic and I enjoy the challenge of capturing live action with the drone. Thank you to Jeff of Sunland for continuing to choose me as your drone pilot!
Client inspired bold modern headshot in Albuquerque
Listening to the client is very important in headshot photography as this type of photograph in particular, is absolutely all about the client. Dominic visited the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico for his headshot session, and this angle and pose were his idea. It turned out to be my favorite shot of the shoot as well. I feel it is a bold, modern headshot that makes an impression! Thank you Dominic for choosing me as your headshot photographer!
Going super vivid with a yellow background for headshots in ABQ
Long-time networking friend Paul has been referring several people to me for headshots, which I really appreciate! That is how Amelia came to visit the JCP Home Studio for her headshot session. After adjusting the lighting to make sure there was no glare in her glasses, we tried out several background colors before ending with an exciting vibrant yellow which was my favorite of the shoot. As expected, the more clients see the new vivid color backgrounds I now offer, the more they are choosing them for their own headshots! Thank you Paul for another referral and to Amelia being so great in front of the camera working with me to get the best results for no glare.
Cibola County is peaceful unlike any other place in New Mexico
Cibola County is one of my favorite places in New Mexico. Much of the county has no cell signal, especially in the El Morro, Ramah, and Fence Lake areas. Being in this off the grid area gives me a peaceful feeling that nowhere else in the state does. However, this was all shockingly disrupted by . . . an alpaca!
Books, a dog, and great light for personal branding photos for an author
Visiting the home of Rio Rancho, New Mexico based author Linda Kolsky for personal branding photos and a commercial portrait photo shoot was a great creative experience. Using different areas of Linda’s home, as well as props, and sure to steal the show, her dog Winston, we made a variety of different photos for her to use in promoting her upcoming book. The light in her living room was fantastic and I want to use it as a photo studio! Thank you to Linda for being open to my photo ideas and for having your own, and to Winston for sitting for some photos, and to Jessica for assisting on this shoot. It was a true team effort!
