When I first got my DJI Mavic Pro drone in November 2017, the first place I really flew it was in Taos, New Mexico. Driving there I had no idea there was a mini-Grand Canyon just on the edge of the town, so to my great surprise was the Rio Grande Gorge revealed to me! I thought the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge would be a great place to fly the drone, but having such little flying experience and with it being so windy when I visited the bridge, the drone stayed in its case that time. Fast forward to the present, with dozens of flights of experience, having already flown under the Bixby Bridge, with the weather at near ideal conditions I did not hesitate to fly over the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge this time!
This is a second sneak preview of the 10 women I photographed at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the We Rise organization that will be featured in the One Of Many photography exhibition at the KD Neeley Gallery on October 05, 2018. I will be one of five photographers featured at the event which you can find out more info about at this Facebook event page. The photo above is my personal favorite from the shoot. I chose a tight crop to really focus in on the emotion in the eyes. Shooting with my new Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro SP lens allowed me to focus very closely and get extreme detail. Be sure and mark your calendars for the evening of October 5th to come out and support this cause and see these images as large prints.
Networking friend Jennifer has been coming to the JCP Home Studio which doubles as a workout space the past couple of Fridays for a dose of Insanity Max 30 with me and Jessica. After one such workout, I setup a few lights to have fun with some fitness photos. They each picked up a dumbbell and showed their strength!
Those that know me, know that I love cars, well, special cars. Not all have to be as special as my beloved Aston Martin Vanquish (some day!), but even just the ability to go anywhere, do anything is enough. Getting serious speed in a car is not that affordable, especially for newer models. However, getting serious offroad ability is. When I traded in my faithful and much loved Mazda3 sedan in March for the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk you see here, I was giving up great, affordable on road driving dynamics for the ability to drive offroad anywhere a stock vehicle could.
A very special photoshoot for We Rise & One Of Many
A recent Saturday was spent photographing ten women here at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico for an upcoming social awareness fundraising event on October 5, 2018 at the KD Neeley Gallery. The organization is called We Rise and this particular photo shoot was for a photo exhibition called One Of Many. Find out more information on the Facebook event page. This is a sneak preview with one of the women from that day. Between now and the event I will be posting more sneak previews. The theme of the photo shoot was to focus tightly on the eyes, which were done by a make-up artist. I used my brand new Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro SP lens to capture the emotion in the eye and the detail in the make-up along with a clamshell / beauty dish lighting setup.
Penny, the 18-year old dog of Cloudcroft New Mexico
My rural land photography work recently took me to Cloudcroft, New Mexico, which is about 30 minutes east of Alamogordo. It is a small mountain town, almost like a place you might think is hiding up in the Alps in Switzerland. The town has a lot of charm and while there I stayed at The Crofting Inn B&B. The is where I met Penny, the 18-year old dog.
I had not done an on-location headshot shoot for the staff of an office in quite some time because all my recent clients have been wanting to come to the JCP Home Studio here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. So last week I loaded up all my mobile studio gear onto my Rock N Roller multi-cart (model R10 if you wanted to know) and headed to Express Professionals near Uptown. I had met one of their staff, Ruby, at a networking event.
