Creating Zara's LinkedIn Headshots in Real Time

Zara is a new graduate and wanted professional headshots for her LinkedIn profile. We discussed background colors when she came to the studio, and she chose dark gray, which has been a very popular color the past few years that more and more professionals are choosing for their headshots. Zara liked the background, so to add variety to her two headshots there was a wardrobe and pose change. I am glad to listen to and create in real time with clients based on exactly what they want in terms of their headshots, even if they do not know until the see their headshots live on the big screen in my studio. The benefit of shooting tethered and showing clients like Zara their headshots live in real time, are that feedback is instant, and thus so can adjustments and changes be in terms of seeing what works for background color and poses as well as wardrobe. Photographing a Pacific Grove Tradition

This was my second year in a row photographing the Pacific Grove Butterfly Parade (see 2025’s parade). It was an unusually warm Saturday for the parade this year, making it feel like the middle of summer! What is the Butterfly Parade about? It is mostly elementary school students representing their class grade in a different theme costume marching through downtown PG with their class banner accompanied by their teacher. There is of course a marching band as well, and the parade concludes with Pacific Grove High School classes of 50 years or more! So banners flew from the class of 1976 all the way to 1971.

Out Late on a Friday Getting Client Video Content in Seaside

I don’t know if I ever started a shoot at 9pm before, let alone 9pm on a Friday, but that’s just what I did taking my camera and gimbal to Deja Blue in Seaside, California to make a branding and marketing video at a time when the jazz club is actually full of people and there is live jazz playing. It was very lively in there so it woke me up, haha when normally I’d be winding down. This video contains mostly un-staged clips. All the band shots were them performing live and me capturing live. Even most of the scenes with the Deja Blue staff and behind the bar were captured live, but also with a few staged pouring and action clips. Through this process I was able to make a marketing video showing a real Friday night in the club! Thank you to the staff of Deja Blue for being good actors when needed, and to the band for making the place come alive!

Seeing Construction Progress From the Air

Deep in the woods of Pebble Beach, I arrived at this job site to make in progress construction drone video for Gonzalo of Peninsula Construction. This was my second on location shoot for Gonzalo, the first being in Seaside. The majority of remaining construction at this Pebble Beach house was in the backyard putting in a new deck and putting green! This logistics were favorable for drone video at this site, with some trees, but none right overhead, not a power line in site, and Gonazalo’s crew in action working on the deck. This allowed me to get the drone in pretty close to the action, to contrast with higher establishing shots as well.
