LinkedIn Headshots for a New Graduate in Pacific Grove with Zara

LinkedIn Headshots for New Graduate Zara in Pacific Grove

Creating two professional looks with live tethered review, a dark gray background, and wardrobe and pose changes

Zara came to my Pacific Grove studio as a new graduate looking for professional headshots for her LinkedIn profile. By reviewing her photographs live during the session, we were able to choose a background, make wardrobe and pose changes, and create two different finished looks based on exactly what she liked.

Creating Zara's LinkedIn Headshots in Real Time

Zara is a new graduate and wanted professional headshots for her LinkedIn profile. We discussed background colors when she came to the studio, and she chose dark gray, which has been a very popular color the past few years that more and more professionals are choosing for their headshots. Zara liked the background, so to add variety to her two headshots there was a wardrobe and pose change. I am glad to listen to and create in real time with clients based on exactly what they want in terms of their headshots, even if they do not know until the see their headshots live on the big screen in my studio. The benefit of shooting tethered and showing clients like Zara their headshots live in real time, are that feedback is instant, and thus so can adjustments and changes be in terms of seeing what works for background color and poses as well as wardrobe. Thank you Zara for choosing me as your headshot photographer!

See Your Headshots While We Create Them

One of the biggest advantages of my studio headshot sessions is being able to review your photographs together as we make them. You can see different expressions, poses, backgrounds, and wardrobe choices on the large screen instead of waiting until after the session to discover what worked best.

That gives us the opportunity to make adjustments immediately and create the headshots you actually want.

Two Looks from One LinkedIn Headshot Session

A wardrobe and pose change gave Zara two professional options on the same dark gray background

Zara's second look shows how much variety can come from a simple wardrobe and pose change while keeping the same lighting and dark gray studio background. The teal top creates a noticeably different feel while still giving her another professional image that works alongside the first one.

Having more than one finished headshot also gives her options beyond LinkedIn, including company profiles, professional biographies, applications, speaking opportunities, and other places where she may need a current professional photograph.

Zara's Headshot on Her LinkedIn Profile

Seeing the finished photograph exactly where it was intended to be used

One of the best ways to know a headshot session worked is seeing the photograph actually being used where the client intended. Zara chose the blue top portrait from our session for her LinkedIn profile, and the darker background and close composition work especially well when the image is displayed in LinkedIn's circular profile format.

Seeing the final use is also a good reminder that I am not simply making a portrait in isolation. We can create the headshot with LinkedIn, a company website, an application, or another specific use in mind and make decisions during the session that help the final photograph work well in that space.

Does Your LinkedIn Profile Photo Still Represent You?

Your headshot can make an impression before anyone reads your experience

For many professionals, LinkedIn is one of the first places a potential employer, recruiter, client, or colleague will see them. If your current profile photo is outdated, casual, or no longer represents how you want to present yourself professionally, it may be time for an update.

I wrote a separate article about what makes a professional LinkedIn headshot useful, when it may be time to replace your existing photograph, and what to consider before creating a new one.
