Cochiti Lake New Mexico Black and White Fine Art Landscape Photography

A lake almost to oneself in the desert

Though relatively nearby to Albuquerque, Cochiti Lake is not a place I have often visited, but almost on a whim made a return visit to recently. It was to the less used Tetilla Peak area where most of the time there, it felt like having the lake to oneself. This area did only just open up for the season the day before so that probably helped too! Is this a beautiful lake? No, not at all, especially since it only exists because of a dam. However, there are not many bodies of water in New Mexico, and if you go at the right time and to the right spot, it can feel like a small escape from the desert.

Headshots for an Albuquerque meteorologist

KOB 4 local news here in Albuquerque is actually the station I watch so when someone named Ivan Cabrera texted me about headshots, I had to ask, are you the meteorologist? He was indeed! If you can believe it, Ivan was not the first local news meteorologist I photographed in downtown Albuquerque, that was Conner Lewis of KRQE back in 2020. Even though I was shooting in a similar place, Ivan’s headshots are totally unique. Using an intersection as the out of focus background, and even the Albuquerque Convention Center itself, I was able to create a variety of different headshots for Ivan all within about a 20 square foot area! Thank you Ivan for choosing me as your headshot photographer and see you at 6pm weekdays on KOB 4!

Placitas Drone Real Estate Aerial Photography

Placitas, New Mexico is just a short drive from Albuquerque, but as you can see, is a totally different landscape to the bigger nearby city. Working for new real estate client Miriam, I flew the drone over her rural land property which was uniquely suited for showing the topography of the property. The extreme slop of the land and the mountain setting would not be easy to depict using traditional still photos from the ground. This is the benefit of drone land real estate aerial photography. Thank you Miriam for choosing me as your drone pilot!

Best Team Headshots in New Mexico at Pebble Labs Los Alamos

A day with the team at Pebble Labs in Los Alamos New Mexico

Being a commercial photographer willing to travel to anywhere in New Mexico, I get opportunities like this to visit a special place like Pebble Labs, and spend a day with the entire team making headshots of everyone, photographing them in action in their lab, and then gathering everybody together for a huge team group photo in their unique greenhouse. Now every employee of Pebble Labs has a modern, professional headshot that looks consistent with everyone else at the lab, and there is no stock photography used on their website. What you see are the actual employees in their actual lab doing the innovate work they do. Thank you to everyone at Pebble for a great day of photography and for choosing me as your photographer.

Swinging by the Grand Canyon one afternoon

On a recent trip to Arizona for rural land real estate work, it turned out for one part of it I was only about 1 hour away from the Grand Canyon, so if one can do such a thing, I swung by the Grand Canyon for an afternoon stroll and made these panorama photos of the canyon in less than ideal light, but at least a few clouds swooped in to help add some drama.

Candid Family Portraits in the Sandia Mountains with Julia and Family

Candid Family Portraits in the Sandia Mountains with Julia and Family

From Porsche photos to candid family portraits in the Sandias

Julia first contacted me about a year ago to make photos of her dad and his stunning new Porsche Taycan. This time it was photos for the whole family with a candid family portrait photo session in the Sandias in Albuquerque, New Mexico. You would not be able to believe it from the photos, but it snowed overnight and in the morning where we shot it would have been totally snow covered! By the late afternoon it melted and we had our candid family portrait session as scheduled. It was a fun time in the mountains making portraits. Thank you Julia for continuing to choose me as your family’s photographer!

In Tucson pack shorts and a snow suit!

When you visit Tucson, Arizona, you have the opportunity on the same day, to walk among a forest of saguaro cactus in the desert and snow covered pine trees atop a mountain peak. Tucson is definitely more famous for its cactus, but Mount Lemmon is a fantastic change of scenery to have just a short drive from town. If you time the drive just right, you can arrive at the peak (or rather near it, as there is no defined peak you can actually drive to) in time to see the sunset over the sweeping valley and smaller peaks below. This means when visiting Tucson you can pack both your shorts and your snow pants and use them on the same day!
