The studio and photographer for actor headshots in Albuquerque in 2022
Max visited the JCP Home Studio to kick off 2022 with my first teen actor and model headshot photo session. You will be able to find him on an upcoming Netflix show! I like to create a relaxed and creative atmosphere, especially for actor headshot sessions so that the actor can just be themselves while I take care of all the technical aspects of making a high impact, modern headshot that gets the attention of agents, casting directors, and studios. Thank you very much max for the amazing 5-star review (see below) and for a fantastic way to kick off 2022 at the JCP Home Studio!

Going and strolling around Christmas lights displays is not really fun or entertaining for me, unless I bring my camera and a large aperture lens, in this case my new Sony 50mm f/1.2 G Master, the largest aperture lens I have ever owned. I personally think Christmas lights look better in photos out of focus, so that the frame is nearly entirely bokeh. I purposefully tried to make the photos out of focus to get the most bokeh in every shot and highlight the color and shape of the lights. Which one is your favorite?
Virtual CBD Product Photography Shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico
This CBD product photography shoot here at the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico was unique as the team from Craft 1861 observed the shoot via a Zoom like interface. I had my MacBook Pro pointed toward the product photography setup where the team could see how the labels were facing, product pairings, and then the final results. I appreciate and welcome client feedback during product shoots, and was surprised how relatively easily and smoothly a virtual client shoot was! Thank you to the team at Craft 1861 for making it a smooth shoot, and for choosing me as your product photographer, and for the hat and t-shirt swag too!
Long time readers of the website may remember that back in 2018 I photographed Alex’s wedding. So it was a great way to end 2021 with Alex visiting the JCP Home Studio for a headshot session that was my very last photo shoot of the year. It is always the most flattering when friends choose me as their photographer. Thank you Alex for continuing to choose me as your photographer and to all my clients in 2021 for making it the biggest year ever for the photo business!
If you are a mountain biker in New Mexico, the trail name Dragon’s Back is probably known to you. It is my single favorite trail to ride in the state that I’ve found so far. If you just like to explore hidden gems and hike, this is also one of the most incredible landscapes in the world, not just New Mexico. Check out the range in topography and geological features the aerial drone photos reveal for this area. It truly is an alien or martian landscape. Is it hard to hike this trail? Not at all. After a bit of a steep incline from parking lot to trailhead, the tail is mostly a rolling trail that even a beginner hiker could do an out and back on. Pack for a longer hike and do the full loop to see the other side. This was also my first time flying my brand new DJI Mavic 3 Cine drone! It was really windy, but you could not tell that from the drone footage. I would like to come back with the drone and better light, and more practice flying it, to really show you what the Dragon’s Back Trail is like and how it definitely is a New Mexico True experience.
New ceramic artist brings her work for professional photographs in ABQ
Some of my favorite clients to work with are local New Mexico artists and I am always most flattered when an artist chooses me to photograph their work. Such was the case when Dee visited the JCP Home Studio with her ceramic artwork to get professional photos made for Etsy and art shows. She stayed for the entire shoot as I welcome artist input for getting the best angle of the pieces, after all, it is their work and they know it best! We worked together to make the best photos to show her work online and carefully chose the lighting and background, in addition to positioning the pieces. Check out Dee’s Etsy page to buy her work online, and even better, go in person to see her work and other artists too at an art show in Corrales, New Mexico on December 3rd, 4th, and 5th 2021. Thank you Dee for choosing me as your art photographer and I look forward to your next series!
