Great Sand Dunes National Park Telephoto Landscapes in Colorado

Great Sand Dunes National Park Telephoto Landscapes in Colorado

Telephoto Dreamscape Views of Sand Dunes in Colorado

This is my second series of photos from Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado (wide angle first series here), this time featuring all images made with a telephoto lens (Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master). You may think for landscape photography that automatically it’s best to use a wide angle lens. Many times that is the case, but when you are very far from the subject, even a very large subject like sand dunes, a telephoto lens can bring you in close, and produce a unique looking landscape image. As I was driving in to Sand Dunes National Park, I thought the sand dunes themselves looked fake, like CGI. There were this soft focus, creamy aberration before more solid, corporeal mountains. As I was leaving the park, I pulled over and took out the telephoto lens to capture these dreamscape like images. Tell me the sand dunes do not look like they were put into the photos as digitally created features?

Photography for NE Albuquerque real estate

Back shooting for Ryerson Real Estate this time in Northeast Albuquerque, where I met Susan Ryerson to make the photos of this property at 8504 Sonoma Valley Dr NE. Working with Susan, or Mark, is always a pleasure as they do not mind helping out to get a room setup just right, and they each have a great eye for detail making my job easier. Thank you Mark and Susan for continuing to choose me as your real estate photographer!

Going for style with business headshots in Albuquerque

Elizabeth contacted me about new headshots for her and her co-worker, Mark, of jgms. They requested a tan background, and thanks to the new colorful background options I offer for headshots, I was glad to be able to accommodate their request. I now think they have the two best looking headshots on the jgms team page if I do say so myself! Business headshots can be creative and stylish too. Thank you Mark and Elizabeth for choosing me as your headshot photographer!

Getting fun candids of a professional organizer and friend in ABQ

This was my second commercial portrait photo shoot (check out the first shoot) with long time networking friend, Miriam, of More Than Organized. She is a certified professional organizer and a Money Breakthrough Business Coach. She is also a very fun person and I tried to keep up with her during the shoot capturing all the great candid action! We started out with getting some before and after shots of her organizing files and such, then had some flying $100 bill business coach shots, before finishing with organized time candids in her office. It’s always different when you are photographing someone you know, it’s more relaxed, and when that someone is Miriam it’s also a lot of laughs! Thank you Miriam for continuing to choose me as your photographer! Thanks to Jessica for assisting and helping keep things in focus. Miriam is a really competent professional and amazing at what she does (that’s why she is on TV all the time). Check out here services on her website.

Eagle Nest Lake State Park New Mexico True Landscape Photography

Eagle Nest Lake State Park New Mexico True Landscape Photography

Hidden Gem of a mountain lake in northern New Mexico

New Mexico has dual environmental personalities. The lower half of the state is mostly sand and baron. The upper half, is mostly mountainous and tree covered. So when you think New Mexico is a desert state, it’s hard to also picture that there is a place like Eagle Nest Lake State Park that is a mountain lake surrounded by tall grass and other flora. Hiking paths will take you all around the lake with pivoting views of different mountains. This is a place to come and cool off from the extreme summer heat. It was only 74F for a high on this day in late August! Check out the map below to visit this hidden gem mountain lake oasis.

Best Headshots for Actors in Albuquerque with Hillary

Best Headshots for Actors in Albuquerque with Hillary

Letting actors shine during their headshot photo session in ABQ

Right from the moment Hillary walked into the JCP Home Studio here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I knew this was going to be a high energy and dynamic actor headshot photoshoot. More and more actors are choosing Jason Collin Photography for their headshots, and I really appreciate it! When someone has an outgoing personality like Hillary’s, I just get the lighting right, have my camera ready, and let them do their thing. That’s how in less than an hour photo session we were able to create so many different headshot looks, with wardrobe changes, some lighting changes, and some background color changes too. This was a super fun shoot and I look forward to working with Hillary again and maybe even collaborating too! Thank you Hillary for choosing me for your actor headshots. Check out Hillary’s Instagram too!

Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm visits Albuquerque New Mexico

Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm visits Albuquerque New Mexico

Secretary of Energy Granholm is all over Albuquerque

Not one, but two events on one day photographing Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm right here in Albuquerque, New Mexico was how I spent a recent Wednesday. These were the first real events I photographed since the pandemic started. The first event was hosted by SWEEP and took place near a residential building in SE ABQ. The spectral lighting made it tough to get good looking photos from a photography perspective, but as you can see from the photo below, my camera was not the only one there dealing with that challenge! The next event was at Kairos Power, which is a new client of mine I did a lot of headshots for just the prior week. This time they invited me back to photograph Secretary Granholm on a tour of the facility. Many of those photos can be used in house only because of the propriety content in them, but I am able to share a few of the tour photos, ending with a creative shot of the Secretary ending a long day in ABQ!
