Ever since I moved to New Mexico in February of this year, I had been hearing about the Balloon Fiesta, seeing signs about it, seeing images from it. It is the biggest event of the year for Albuquerque and for once I was very excited to wake up at 3:45am to make it to Balloon Fiesta Park in time to beat the traffic (mostly) and see the Dawn Patrol take off.

In my brief time living in Albuquerque, New Mexico I have already learned that Robinson Park between the downtown and old town areas of the city is a very active location for events. The 15th Annual Offcenter Folk Art Festival was my second event there in the past few months. It was a lively and colorful event great for candid photos like the one above.

I arrived in the middle of the afternoon desert heat and sun to meet Franky in the Kona Ice truck wondering if anyone would show up on such a Friday afternoon? After a slow start, some people did start to come and some were very excited as you can see above!

The Remax ribbon cutting event in Rio Rancho was the first event I attended as an official member of the ABQWest Chamber of Commerce and the first to photograph with my awesome new Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 VC lens! I needed that ultra-wide lens to get everyone in frame in that tight space (had not much room to back up myself). Then it's just timing the ribbon cutting just right!
