I woke up this morning and found out there was a car show going on just a few minutes down the road from me at the Albuquerque International Support Airport. It even had free admissions so I packed up my Nikon D750 with Tamron 15-30mm lens attached and headed down Gibson Blvd SE. This show was the Eurocars version, so of course only European cars were featured, which is fine with me! Sadly though, no Aston Martins.
However, I was very excited to see the second generation Audi R8 V10+ for the first time in person. This might be my choice over any supercar or hypercard in existence today if I had to select a 2016 or later model. The Ferrari 488 GTB lost the great engine sound of the naturally aspirated 458 Italia and McLaren has never had it. Give me the sound of this V10 any day!
There was only one Ferrari at the show today, an older 360 Modern modified to look a lot like a 430 Scuderia. I would take the Porsche Cayman over the Ferrari based on practicality if I could have only one of them.
This was not the first car show I have photographed out on a private jet runway. The best car show I ever photographed was Cars & Couture 2013 in Tampa, Florida that had a huge variety of cars in a stunning hangar and runway backdrop. I really like the Support of Octoberfest 2017 Eurocars too though, but it was hard to get the mountains in the distant background to show up in shots.
I hear there will be another car show at this same location for cars other than European models in the near future so be sure and check back for those photos later this fall.
