El Vado Lake a hidden gem in Rio Arriba County New Mexico
Rio Arriba County New Mexico is one of my favorite places to visit for my rural land real estate work in particular because of the spectacular scenery of and around El Vado Lake. This lake is part of a state park (open seasonally). The water level changes radically with the seasons. I have been at the lake and was shocked at just how low it was at that time. In these photos and drone video I would say the lake is pretty high and near its full volume. Another unique thing about this lake, is that if you are coming from the south, one option you have is to take a 16 mile dirt road right to this southern point of the lake. The dirt road is well maintained, so pretty much any vehicle with a little ground clearance could do it in the dry, and is my recommended way of visiting El Vado Lake. Back out on another aerial drone photography flight for WSP involving a bridge, this time in the very small town of Endee, New Mexico. This bridge spans I-40 just before the border with Texas. This is the furthest I have traveled for WSP after several bridge drone photo shoots around Albuquerque, like these all along Tramway Blvd. After the flight I checked out the amazing Rt 66 car museum in the Russells Truck & Travel Center. This is possibly the best ever gas/convenience store/truck stop I have ever been to. I highly recommend stopping by to see the museum and get a snack!
Leaving Albuquerque on a scenic drive for a day trip can take you to Abiquiu Lake. Driving offroad can get you to this less visited southern area of the lake. I was on a rural land real estate shoot for a client who also wanted some footage of the lake. Finding access from the south was a challenge due to a couple of locked gates, but I found a place to launch the drone from just in time to get this stunning golden hour and sunset cinematic 4K drone video. Drone photography for commercial real estate in Albuquerque
Working for new client Lee & Associates who are based out of Arizona, I went to southeast Albuquerque, to make drone aerial commercial real estate photos of the former Ratheon Building. For such a large commercial building, still photos from ground level really cannot show it in full, and especially cannot show it in context to the Sandia Mountains and its more immediate neighborhood like drone photos can. These will be high impact images to help Lee & Associates find a new tenant for this massive building. Thank you Ross for choosing me as your drone pilot!
Even for someone who has been to hundreds of rural land real estate properties in more than half the counties in New Mexico, there are still some areas I have not yet been. Such was the case when I visited Quemado, New Mexico for Hemingway Land recently. In the far west-central part of New Mexico, near no major highway, nor any city, Quemado is one would expect a quiet place with echos of when it was a more bustling town. If you are looking for a quiet place to have a weekend getaway, nearby Quemado Lake makes a visit to Quemado a hidden gem exploring opportunity. I recommend staying at Casa Azul, everything you want in a B&B experience with a very friendly owner who is a great cook as well!
Sunrise drone flight for amazing results for the client
Here at Jason Collin Photography, I find in photography and drone video, getting up for the sunrise is never a bad thing and often produces amazing results. Such was the case at this luxury rural real estate property in Arizona that I just happened to be staying at in the guest cabin allowing me an easy walk to the large pond right on the property to catch this stunning sunrise with both the drone and my mirrorless camera. This was a specific request by the client to capture sunrise content, and I included it in the overall property drone video I delivered to the client. I liked the sunrise drone video clips so much, I wanted to feature them, even though they are brief, in their own drone video.
Any chance I get to go up to Taos, however brief, is welcome. One a recent afternoon, a client wanted me to make drone video and a 360 panorama aerial drone photo of his luxury home he was planning to sell, even before he had hired a real estate agent! He knew himself the value of drone video in selling a property like his, as he was hoping to attract an out of state and even out of country buyer. The drone video shows the whole property in context with the Taous mountains providing the background. Likewise, the 360 panorama drone aerial photo lets the viewer look around the property as they wish from the drone’s view.
