Golden light in Altura Park for commercial portraits in Albuquerque
Continuing the ongoing photography project I have with CNM to photograph founders of various local businesses (see first shoot), I met Trish of Teeniors at Altura Park. I have known Trish already for a couple of years through various business community and networking events. Even knowing someone just a little makes a big difference in the photo shoot I have found in my 13 years of doing this. Thus, the commercial portraits I were able to make of Trish, also benefiting from the late afternoon light in the park, resulted in some of the best photos I have made this year. Of course, Trish was a natural in front of the camera which always makes things much easier too! Thank you to Jen for organizing and to Trish for our planned, but still impromptu photo shoot!
The right light to make the best sculpture photographs in ABQ
It was great to have Sharon back in the JCP Home Studio with two more of her sculptures. I was surprised our first shoot was already over 1.5 yers ago! Last time we used a white seamless background, but Sharon wanted something this time for the limestone fox and marble birds. I suggested using one of my stone surface Duo Boards with just a black V-flat background. A little bit of tweaking of the light, adding a reflector, and voila, I was able to produce the high impact sculpture photos below (see the BTS shot for how I set things up). Shooting tethered really help me show Sharon how the light wrapped her sculpture in real time, so we could add some fill light with a reflector when needed for certain views of the sculptures. I of course welcome artist input during the entire shoot, as Sharon knows the views of her sculptures the best! Thank you Sharon for continuing to choose me as the photographer for your fantastic artwork!
Team Headshots consistent through the years for WSP engineers
Long time client WSP added quite a few more engineering team members, so I returned to their office in Albuquerque, New Mexico with my mobile studio setup for another team headshot photo session. Going back to 2019 I have made the same consistent, professional headshots for all their team members in those three years (see 25 more headshots!). I have also done a lot of drone work for WSP too. Thank you to the team at WSP for continuing to choose me as your photographer and drone pilot!
Offering headshots as good as anywhere in the country right in Albuquerque
Scott’s company was actually going to fly him to Phoenix to get headshots because they thought he could not get good enough headshots right here in Albuquerque. Thankfully his contact person found me and Scott did not have to fly all the way to Phoenix just to get headshots! It is my goal to show individuals and businesses that outstanding modern headshots for business people and creatives are available in Albuquerque. Thank you to Saige at H.W. Kaufman for choosing me as your headshot photographer and to Scott for doing so well in front of the camera.
Many visits to Socorro County west of Belen in New Mexico
Socorro County New Mexico, near Belen in particular, is one of the areas I have visited the most in my 5+ years of photographing hundreds of rural land real estate properties. Then even more specifically, this area near the small airport west of Belen, high up on a plain bordered by mountains I return to multiple times each year. It is a peaceful area, and once you go south a bit, you feel like the entire desert is just yours. Walking this land with my two cameras is a peaceful photography work experience. The only noise comes when I send the drone up to get aerial photos of the entire 5 acres.
Making photos of horses and robots and people for CNM
All of October I am working on a project for CNM making photographs of founders of companies in and around Albuquerque. Some of these people I have already known for quite some time, like Paul of Equiseq. And I also tangentially knew Chris of Build With Robots from an open house years ago. I really like photo assignments like this where with a simple one light off camera setup, can go into a new environment and have free reign to create the photo I like of each person. Thank you to Jen and CNM for choosing me as the photographer for this project!
Making headshots for medical residency applications in Albuquerque
Evelyn visited the JCP Home Studio needing headshots for her medical residency application. During the shoot we followed the guidelines she was given. Evelyn did great in front of the camera and after editing I sent her the photos in the very low res size needed. The challenge started with getting them to upload despite being the exact specs! I went against logic and tried a few things, and those worked! Thank you Evelyn for choosing me as your headshot photographer and for the 5-star review! Good luck at your residency!
