Being involved with certain clubs and groups in Albuquerque affords me some unique opportunities from time to time. One such opportunity was to be able to drive my BMW M3 on the Isotopes baseball field for a women in sports event. I had a UNM softball player in coach in the car with me as we drove around the perimeter of the field. I naturally had my camera with me and got what shots I could while still behind the wheel. It was definitely a unique driving experience I will not forget! Thank you to the BMW CCA of New Mexico, Sandia BMW, and the Isotopes!
BMW car photography for Bring A Trailer in Albuquerque
Bring A Trailer contacted me about photographing a local client’s BMW Z4 M right here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Being a passionate BMW M3 owner myself, I was extra excited for the opportunity to make great car auction photos of a BMW. I met the owner, Eric, at a location near the Tramway Station for the shoot. It was a real pleasure to get to know Eric over the course of the shoot. The Z4 M not surprisingly photographed very well with its timeless design and silver color. Thank you to Eric and Bring A Trailer for this car photography opportunity right here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Local for National BMW Car Photography in Albuquerque
Our local BMW CCA chapter will be featured in the upcoming national BimmerLife Magazine with a theme of youth for the feature. So I met two of the youngest members of the club on Tramway at sunset time to make a series of roller car photos to be the highlight images for that article. It was actually my very first time to attempt this kind of shot. I was kneeling backwards in a convertible BMW Z4 to get these shots and at times did not feel the most stable! It was a good learning experience and I was glad to be able to at least get these shots to send to the magazine for the feature. Thanks to Shiv, Rob, Christina, and Dan for a team effort in creating this car roller shots.
The Unofficial Photographer for the BMW Club and more!
Besides being a full-time professional photographer (since 2009), I am often the official or unofficial photographer for every group I belong too. Such is the case for the BMW Car Club of New Mexico. I enjoy these unofficial photographer titles because I like to contribute to the groups I belong to. Even during the pandemic, the BMW club organized many Covid-19 safe destination drives to points all over New Mexico. I of course always bring my camera with me, and sometimes the drone too. These photos go out in the club newsletter, and twice a year it’s a personal highlight to see some of those photos in physical print in the Bimmer Life Magazine. Thanks to Dan and other club members for writing the great copy in the magazine, even though I was incorrectly credited for both the writing and the photos.
It is still a big thrill to see my photographs in print in a magazine. So when the very first issue of Bimmer Life Magazine arrived in the mail with my photos on a 2-page spread, photo credit, and being mentioned by name in the article itself, I got a rush. The gray M3 convertible above is my own car as well, so my photos and my car in Bimmer Life Magazine! Thank you to Dan for making this happen by getting me to submit these photos to him in time in turn for him to submit them to Bimmer Life Magazine in time.
The BMW Car Club New Mexico Chapter got invited to a very unique car show right at the top of a mountain at Santa Fe Ski Resort! We actually drove from the Sanat Fe BMW dealership on to the foot of the ski slope itself! Yes, that means my M3 along with a host of other sports cars and classic cars actually went off road. This could not have been a more stunning setting and a fantastic day overall. It felt like a whole different world up there. We capped the day with a hike up to the summit of the mountain, some 11,000+ feet of elevation! To top it all off, they had great veggie burgers grilled right before us with green chili and homemade cookies. In a side note, from the photo below you can see that Jessica and I are living in two totally different temperature zones!
This is an unusual blog post or me as I do not usually post much personal content on this, my business website. It is also extremely rare that I have an entire weekend off, and even rarer that it is spent out of town on an overnight trip that was not part of a photo job. Then also I have not really talked about realizing a life long dream a few months ago of owning a proper sports car. However, a weekend trip to Las Vegas, New Mexico with Jessica and our dogs Kiki and Artie was that good I decided to share. This all came about because of the RSW Cruise 2019, otherwise it would never of happened!
