How a Conversation Led to a Guest Room Photo and Video Project
You never know what may lead to a photography job. Such was the case of how I ended up working with Odeli of Del Mesa Carmel. I received an invitation to the first Makers’s Market at Asilomar Conference Grounds in December. Setup across from my table display was an artist. He wandered over and we got to talking. I had the drone on display on the table, so in talking about that, he mentioned having a friend who was talking about needing drone video. I gave him my card to give to her. Well, shortly thereafter that person walked by so he introduced us, and here one month later I was on site starting out by making interior photos and video of a guest room available for residents of the community. My work as a rural land real estate drone pilot takes me to some very small and out of the way places, like Regina, New Mexico. You probably have never heard of it, but I know it well! It’s northeast of Cuba, New Mexico (heard of it??) and as you can see from the 4K drone video above, has some great views of mesas and mountains.
Adding handheld “from the ground” video services in Albuquerque
I am always looking to improve and increase the imaging services I can offer clients here in Albuquerque, New Mexico and now I am pleased to offer “handheld video” in addition to the drone aerial video I have been offering for years. You may recall the drone video shoot I did for County Line Restaurant last summer (check it out here). At the time I did not have the gear nor the skills to make video inside the restaurant for the client. I kept it in mind though and when DJI released the new RS 3 Mini gimbal, I decided this is my time to start to offer branding video from the ground. Thank you to the team at County Line for this opportunity and doing a great job getting the restaurant prepped!
Conchas Lake visits require bringing your own supplies
In an area dozens of miles from any gas station, grocery store, or restaurant, Conchas Lake in New Mexico is about as remote of a place you will find that has an active community living around it. This makes it a unique lake community unlike the others I have featured on Jason Collin Photography before in Navajo Dam Lake and Elephant Butte Lake. This lake also has a dam that you can drive along the top of, which is a pretty cool experience. Enjoy the drone views of the lake and dam in this series of drone aerial photos and drone video.
Have you ever sat and stared in bemused amazement at the water feature in Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico? It was designed by Aqua Design International. They contacted me about making a creative drone video of the water feature really showing off the range of fountains and colors they display at dusk. This was my first time to fly my DJI Mavic Pro drone in such low light. After a brief test flight I was very glad to find out it could record video in these conditions and that the final, edited 4K drone video made Aqua Design so happy. The music I selected I think really compliments the visuals. Press play, and take a 3 minute whimsical break!
At long last I got to see the Porsche 918 Spyder in person! To my great surprise Porsche of Albuquerque not only featured the 918 hypercar, but also the previous Porsche hypercar, the Carrera GT! The 918 Spyder was pretty much considered the fastest production car in existence when it came out just 3 years ago, and there really is not anything much faster around a track yet.
