Sanderlings a fast running shore bird that fascinate me
I have always been very curious about these funny little birds running along the shore at Asilomar Beach in Pacific Grove, California. They search along the water’s edge for food, but seem quite adverse to the water washing over their feet, so they run at an incredible fast pace, their little legs moving like a blur, to avoid getting wet! I finally learned their name, sanderlings, and had a chance to photograph them at their eye level thanks to an unusually high sand dune.
Updated design gets updated product photos for cola bottles in Pasadena
Back in 2023 I photographed the first cola product this client brought to market. Since then, he has changed the name and of course had new labels made. So it should be pretty simple to repeat the results of the first shoot, right? Well, one and a half years ago I lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico and now I live in Pacific Grove, California. The client has always lived in the LA area, but the cola was bottled in a small town outside of ABQ. So I was still able to make new products shots for this client by driving down to LA, looking at my BTS reference photo from the first shoot, and replicating the same shots I made for him before. Thank you Chuck for continuing to choose me as your product photographer!
Airbnb in Seaside stands out with professional photography
Leo contacted me about getting updated professional photography for his updated Airbnb listing in Seaside, California. I visited the property for daylight photos and later returned to get twilight photos featuring the two fire pits the property offers guests.
Andrea contacted me over the summer inquiring about having a 1950s theme photo shoot including a classic Chevy Bel-Air car they were going to rent when the visited the area in October. I thought this sounded great and over the next few months we exchanged ideas for locations and the style of the shoot. She wanted it to be a free flowing and candid photo shoot, so no off camera lighting used, just my trusty Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM lens and the sunny skies of Big Sur. They were a very fun couple to photograph, making my job easy! Thank you Andrea for choosing me as your photographer and for sharing all your great ideas (that I will use for future clients) for candid portraits!
Day and Twilight Vacation Rental Real Estate Photography in Pebble Beach
I spent a day in Pebble Beach at this vacation rental home nestled atop a hill in the pine trees photographing it in daylight and twilight, as well as sending up the drone to get treetop views of the larger property setting. Vacation rental photography does differ from straight up real estate listing photography in how the home is featured, as the furniture needs to be shown on purpose, as it of course is part of the rental itself. Not to mention, a couple of rental experience shots, like the one above. This was definitely a vacation rental to enjoy in the forest of Pebble Beach!
It was kind of unusual that my very first photo shoot since moving to California was an engagement shoot in Big Sur, something I do not specialize in and have not done in a long time. However, Prasanna contacted me and said he liked my work and even though I told him I am not an engagement or wedding photography specialist, he still wanted me as his photographer. I was flattered by that! The weather just worked out, as well as the timing, for getting these candid engagement shots. I now have a go to location for this type of shoot if clients do not have their own preference! Thank you Prasanna for choosing me as your engagement photographer and congratulations!
Sea Lions and pups entertain in Monterey, California
The sea lions have had their pups, and they are all over a popular section of the recreational trail in Monterey, California. People stop and enjoy their antics. I wonder though, how many who are in that area all the time enjoy this? Sea lions bark constantly, and are stinky. After an hour of photographing them, I was good! They certainly are entertaining though whether they know they are being so or not.
