Well, somehow I have made it 12 years as a full-time professional photographer. Like most businesses, it has not been a smooth, linear progression going ever upward, but rather a roller coaster. Jason Collin Photography as an official licensed business started in June 2009. However, I was first paid for photography in 2008 when I still lived in Tokyo, Japan. In 2009, having returned to Florida, circumstances convinced me I needed to create my own job, and I made the bold leap into being a full-time photographer immediately, no keeping a part-time job or anything.
Candid Family Portraits are the best in Albuquerque
A bit of history about Jason Collin Photography. I started this photography business in June of 2009, so now I am celebrating 12 years as a full-time professional photographer! Like many photographers, I started out as a lifestyle photographer (weddings and portraits). Due to a number of factors, around 2012 I made the transition to being a commercial photographer. I still enjoy, however, the opportunities I get like this one to photograph a very fun family for candid family portraits. We met in Altura Park and from the first shot it was go time for making my favorite kind of portrait, a candid one! Monica, Mary, and their whole family pretty much came up with all their own ideas for the photos and I just had to capture them! Thank you for a great shoot!
While on the Road traveling for my rural land real estate photography work in New Mexico, with often long drives to and from locations, I like to break them up by visiting some of the off the beaten path attractions of the area. This time it was Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, which judging by the very few other people there, is an overlooked natural landscape northwest of Roswell, New Mexico. I cannot say it was the most stunning wetlands area I have ever taken my camera too, but it was a nice break from the harsh desert and boring cattle land views on the long drive back to Albuquerque.
More and more actors are moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and more and more actors are choosing Jason Collin Photography for their headshots. I met Andy in a favorite downtown ABQ spot for an on location headshot session on a variety of dynamic backgrounds. Andy wanted headshots that really accentuated his facial expressions, so I did a lot of shooting with my Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART lens to really bring the DoF onto his face and eyes in particular. These are his two favorites from our session. Thank you Andy for choosing me as your headshot photographer!
Time and opportunity to see rare sights in New Mexico
My work as the most prolific rural land real estate photographer in New Mexico takes me to many out of the way places one may never normally see. For example, Berrendo Creek is probably not on the itinerary of many people who visit Roswell. It is far from the alien themed main street and easy to not even notice driving by the country road it is on. I actually remembered from when I was last here over 2 years ago, and this time I had the time to stop by while there was still some light left in the twilightsky. Such is how I get to see many things in New Mexico in just four years of residing here.
Amazing Library Residential Real Estate Photography in Albuquerque
You never know what you may find when making professional real estate photos in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At this Ridgecrest neighborhood home, the client told me there was a library to photograph at the end. I expected a regular-sized room with a lot of bookshelves. What it was in reality, you can see above and below. What an amazing private library in a residential home right here in ABQ!
Financial Professional visits for headshots from NM Mutual again
Another New Mexico Mutual financial professional visited the JCP Home Studio in Albuquerque for a modern, professional headshot upon seeing one I made for her colleague, Cindy, a couple of weeks ago. I really appreciate getting a client from word of mouth, or in this case, seeing is believing?? As a busy financial professional, I had everything setup for Gina upon her arrival such that the headshot shoot only took up about 10 minutes of her time. Not that we didn't have time for an interesting chat or too still during the shoot. Thank you Gina for choosing me as your headshot photographer and for being so great in front of the lens! I look forward to eventually making modern, professional headshots for the entire New Mexico Mutual team.
