Pebble Beach Golf Photographer for Special Event with visiting Canadians

Pebble Beach Golf Photographer for Special Event with visiting Canadians

Candid golf event photography at Pebble Beach Golf Course

I was contacted by a Canadian company about helping them out photographing an event at famous Pebble Beach Golf Course. I would be on the 18th hole getting the second and third shots of a series of visiting executives from Canada. This meant after they teed off, I would be in position for their second shots, then hop in a golf cart and ride to the third shot location, then ride all the way back to get the next foursome’s second shots! This of course kept me on my toes while getting to enjoy the spectacular views from the 18th fairway at Pebble Beach.

Professional Baseball Park Photography at Albuquerque Regional Sports Complex

Professional Baseball Park Photography at Albuquerque Regional Sports Complex

Baseball action at Albuquerque Regional Sports Complex

I have featured the Albuquerque Regional Sports Complex before in a drone video and aerial drone photos. This time I returned to the park when baseball action was happening on all fields at once, as a continuation of my work for the City of Albuquerque. I was given some permission to be on the fields themselves while the games were going on live. My longest lens is the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master, which is enough to get decently close up action shots. If I photographed sports full time, I would invest in longer lenses, like the 200-400mm zoom. Early in my professional photography career when I lived in Florida, I used to shoot sports much more, including baseball and triathlons, so it was fun to get back into photographing live sports, even if just for one afternoon.

Family Sports DSLR Photography Lesson with Rosa

Matthew and Kristina as model's for Rosa's family sports DSLR photography lesson

For Rosa's fourth (1st, 2nd, 3rdDSLR Photography Lesson, we headed to a waterfront park in downtown Saint Petersburg to practice family sports photography with her children as the athlete-models.  Her son Matthew will begin the baseball season soon, and Kristina plays volleyball.  For this lesson we did not practice the particulars of photographing baseball nor volleyball, but instead just the basics of using continuous focus mode and tracking action.  We covered using multi-point and single point focus settings, as well as a bit of flash action photography.

Besides being the photography teacher, I was also the quarterback and main frisbee thrower as Rosa focused on trying to catch her children in mid-catch with her Canon T1i.

I believe for our next lesson we will go to an actual baseball diamond and get into the best angles for photographing a batter and a pitcher.  Rosa continues to be my student most dedicated to improving her photography despite a heavy job workload, not to mention taking care of Kristina and Matthew!
