Palisades Sill Rock Formation New Mexico True

Wall of rock home to hawks in Cimarron Canyon State Park

If you blink while driving past Palisades Sill along HWY 64 in Cimarron Canyon State Park, you are likely to not even notice it was there. How can that be when you look at the drone video above and see the 100 foot wall of rock? That is because the canyon is very narrow, with tall timber along the road, that twists and requires the driver to keep a keen eye. However, if you do stop, you will be treated to a hidden gem of a rock formation that hawks swoop down from and has the Cimarron River gently gurgling at its foot.

Rural Land Real Estate Drone Photography in Valencia County New Mexico

Rural Land Real Estate Drone Photography in Valencia County New Mexico

Valencia County never looking more dramatic

On a rural land real estate photography shoot for a new client, Three Rings Property Solutions, the skies in Valencia County that evening were very dramatic, making for rural land photos with impact. As regular readers of Jason Collin Photography will know, I am the most prolific rural land real estate photographer in the entire state of New Mexico. I am always glad when a new land buyer chooses me as their photographer, thanks Mike! The clouds made for a lot of drama to add to the high desert scenery with distant mountain views. This trio of properties were captured by both my Sony mirrorless camera and by drone in aerial photos and 4K drone video too. Including drone video really helps to show off rural land real estate in a maximum attention grabbing way to potential buyers.

Baseball Field Aerial Drone Photography in Albuquerque New Mexico

Baseball field drone view in Albuquerque

While on a 360 panorama drone photography shoot for WSI Web Enhancers, I was very close to a baseball field, Tingley Field for those that know Albuquerque, New Mexico. In making the 360 panorama photo, the drone captures 26 photos. The baseball field was right below the drone, and captured these unique views. I found the angles the fencing made to be interesting mixed with the late evening light casting shadows. Then perhaps the most interesting visual feature are the dark rings (crop circles?) seen in two of the shots What made those? If you know, or even want to guess, let me know in the comments below!

Photography Gear Review Video - Peak Design Everyday Sling V2 3L with Sony a7R IV

Camera bag for cycling with the Sony a7R IV

I got a new road bike and discovered there are many unique views in Albuquerque that you can only see from a bike. Wanting to share these views in photos on Jason Collin Photography, I sought out a camera bag to carry just one camera and one lens. Already being a Peak Design customer, I settled on their new bag, the Everyday Sling V2 3L I wanted to be able to carry my Sony a7R IV and Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master lens in the bag, as this is my most versatile lens and camera combo. I contacted Peak Design to ask them if they knew if this combo would fit, they said yes, but it would be tight.

Exactly how tight is it to get a Sony a7R IV with a Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master lens into the Peak Design Everyday Sling 3L? Check out the video to find out!

Dawson New Mexico Ghost Town Cemetery in black and white

Ghost Town becomes a Cemetery in Dawson New Mexico

There are very remote places in New Mexico, and there are very small towns in New Mexico, many of which I have featured here on Jason Collin Photography. However, when you have a town miles from anywhere, that requires you to then drive miles down a dirt road, and the only thing in your ghost town is a cemetery full of victims for tragic mining accidents, it is hard to get more remote than that! Such is Dawson, New Mexico, a ghost town with a historic cemetery and that it all. Though remote, It is worth making the drive to if you are in nearby Angel Fire, Eagle Nest, or Cimarron. With various types of graves, tombstones, and historical information, I was surprised to find something like this at the end of the road. Read more about this ghost town on Atlas Obscura and check out the map below to visit this place for yourself!
