Ronald Angelo Johnson speaks passionately in Albuquerque Alpha Chi 2023
One of the things I like best about photographing national conferences, is getting to hear keynote speakers I otherwise never would. Such was the case with a very passionate keynote address by Ronald Angelo Johnson at the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society event in Albuquerque in March and April 2023. Mr. Johnson was an A+ speaker to photograph. Why? Because he was always looking up and out at the audience in all directions. He is an animated speaker with has hands and expressions. He moved around even out from behind the podium. Plus, even from these silent still photos, you can hear the inspiring story he shared with the audience. It was a privilege to get to hear him speak that morning at the conference.
Professional event photography at an awards event at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya
Event photography is really starting to return in 2022 as I went to the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa for a multi-day conference for employees of PayneWest. I actually made 30 headshots to start out the event, then returned the next day to photograph the awards ceremony seen here. While I still have reservations about being in a room full of hundreds of people who just flew in from all over the country, and I still wore my N95 mask during the entire event, it was also nice to feel the energy of a live event with everyone extra excited to see each other after a long time apart. Thank you to the team at PayneWest for choosing me as both your event and headshot photographer!
Top Three Commercial Photographer in Albuquerque for 2020
Thank you to Three Best Rated for choosing me for the third year in a row as a top three rated commercial photographer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They make their choices based on 50 different criteria. In the past year I have worked hard to improve my website for clarity and presentation. Additionally, I made a major upgrade in all of my equipment in September 2019 replacing every single camera, lens, and drone I owned! I made the transition to Sony mirrorless cameras, the best in the photography world.
At Embassy Suites by Hilton Albuquerque I photographed another event for the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, this time focused on education where large checks were handed out, awards were given, and Secretary Designate of Education Ryan Stewart spoke. Photography often takes me inside events I would never normally be able to attend, and this was another example where I got to have an inside look at the state of education in New Mexico. Here is an insider tip, charter schools got mentioned, a lot.
I was very glad to photograph the AFRL Awards 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico! I was especially glad because I was the photographer for the 2018 awards, so whenever a client asks you to return and photograph an annual event, it is a source of pride for me. It was quite a different experience this year because of the venue changes for both the awards and the reception. The awards took place in the tech area of the UNM campus and the reception was in Isotopes Stadium! I covered a lot of ground with both my Nikons walking the couple of blocks between the venues and then all over and up and down the baseball stadium! Thank you for choosing me again this year as your event photographer!
NMACI Diamond Gala 60th Anniversary was the first event I photographed in Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Like many award events I have photographed throughout the past 10 years, it began outside with a social hour and then moved inside to a ballroom for the presentation of the awards. Being a professional photographer in part means being able to change gears going from shooting outside in natural light at 1/500th ISO 100 of a second to dimly lit indoors using external flash and ISO 2000+.
Politicians a plenty
Then it turns out many state Senators and Representatives would be present to receive awards, as well as Lt. Governor Howie Morales. I am very experienced at photographing politicians though, from mayors to governors to Secretary of Labor and the U.S. Surgeon General!
