Pacific Grove Volunteer Appreciation Lunch and Awards Ceremony 2026

Pacific Grove Volunteer Appreciation Lunch and Awards Ceremony'

Community event photography in Pacific Grove honoring the volunteers who help make the city stronger

Honored to Be There, and Glad to Contribute

This was my first time to be invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Lunch & Awards Ceremony for the City of Pacific Grove because I just became a commissioner on the Traffic Safety Committee earlier this year. So the invitation came as a very nice surprise! It was an honor to be included in an event recognizing people who give their time and energy to the city. As always, I brought my camera even though I was just attending as a guest. Deputy City Manager, Joyce Halabi, is someone I often see at various city events getting photos too, so I asked her if it was ok to get some shots of the awards ceremony. She said yes, and helped coordinate the photo ops as well. Thank you to the whole team at City Hall that helped put this together for the volunteers. Being there as both a volunteer and a photographer felt especially meaningful, and I was glad to help document a small part of what makes Pacific Grove such a special community.

Photography That Supports the Community It Comes From

Community events like this matter because they reflect the people behind a town, not just the place itself. I always appreciate opportunities to document gatherings in Pacific Grove that celebrate service, connection, and the people who help keep this community strong.

Award Presentations and Recognition Moments

Photographs from the ceremony honoring volunteers who have given their time and care to Pacific Grove

One of the best parts of the lunch was seeing volunteers recognized in front of friends, fellow community members, and city staff. These photographs focus on the award presentations and appreciation moments that made the event feel personal and meaningful. It was clear that the people being honored had made a real difference in Pacific Grove through steady, often behind-the-scenes service.

The Gathering, the Conversations, and the Community Around It

Candid and wide photographs from the lunch at Chautauqua Hall

Beyond the awards themselves, the event had the kind of warm, community-centered energy that makes Pacific Grove feel like Pacific Grove. These photographs show the room, the conversations, and the atmosphere of the lunch itself, from volunteers reconnecting at their tables to the wider view of a gathering built around appreciation and shared involvement.

Events like this are a reminder that some of the most meaningful photography is not always about promotion alone. Sometimes it is about helping a community see itself. As a Pacific Grove photographer and local volunteer, I value opportunities to document the people, organizations, and gatherings that give this town its character.
