Construction Drone Video for a Pebble Beach Crane Lift
Aerial video and photography documenting a major steel beam installation for repeat client Hare Construction
Some construction projects deserve more than a few progress photos. When Hare Construction brought in a large crane to lift structural steel beams over a Pebble Beach home, they asked me to document the operation from the air and create a professional highlight video they could use for marketing.
A Construction Project Worth Seeing From the Air
It was exciting when Hare Construction reached out to me about a big crane coming to one of their Pebble Beach job sites to hoist steel beams up and if I could get drone video of it. I have experience flying around cranes, and know it can result in some pretty cool drone video shots! Hare Construction is also one of my new repeat construction clients, as earlier this year I photographed one of their construction projects on Laurel Ave in Pacific Grove.
The assignment for Hare Construction was to make a highlight drone video they could use for marketing. Since the crane hoisted over multiple beams, I had multiple chances to get dramatic angles with the drone, even flying under the crane arm once! I also got some close ups of the crew attaching the beam itself to the crane cables.

The wider drone photographs show just how large the crane was relative to the house and surrounding neighborhood, while the straight down view makes it especially clear why aerial photography was useful for documenting this project.
I also made closer aerial photographs of the steel beams and crew during the lifting process. Together, the stills and video give Hare Construction a more complete visual record of a construction milestone that would have been difficult to communicate from ground level alone.
