Albuquerque New Mexico networking friend Dr. Norm was showing off the headshots I made for him and his wife (also named Barbara) to Barbara and she asked, "who made those for you?" Dr. Norm kindly referred her to me and lo and behold, I am in Barbara's office this week making headshots and commercial portraits for her! Check out Dr. Norm's wellness business and Barbara's travel business.
We started out in a conference room where I set up my portable studio setup. Since Barbara only wanted a true headshot, it was pretty simple, just a white muslin backdrop clipped to an expandable 6' gray disc background. There was just enough space for me to use a two speedlight setup with modifiers. The results as you can see above are very much like what I can produce in my own Home Studio!
As soon as I saw some colorful artwork on the wall of the building's lobby, I knew I wanted to at least try to incorporate them into a shot. I framed Barbara carefully so that none of the artwork looked like it was attached to her head and chose a untraditional composition for Barbara herself. I like making use of existing background for portraits and headshots when possible!
