Inside Out Commercial Portraits in ABQ
Dr. Singh wanted new commercial portrait photos for his website so we met in downtown Albuquerque at the Albuquerque Convention Center. I thought we would mostly be using the Civic Plaza area as I had for another portrait shoot, but that was taken over by setting up for an outdoor concert. Part of being a professional photographer is being able to improvise right on the spot, so instead of starting outside, we went inside to the convention center. Having photography many events there, I knew a few spots that would work well. No one told us we could not make photographs inside, so we just went about it!
Low Key Stone to High Key Architecture
The first spot was this fireplace I knew, but we only used the brick wall on the side of it to make the above portrait. We moved quickly from there to another couple of spots before ending up in the scenic breezeway of the convention center. The vertical photo below is one of my favorite shots I have made recently. It shows off the subject well (Dr. Singh) while also giving a sense of being in a modern city, with the added bonus of rooting the photo as being made in Albuquerque with the One Albuquerque banner in the background. Dr. Singh is a natural in front of the camera, so as quickly as I could get the 42” Cheetahstand SoupBowl and Godox AD600 into position, he was ready for me to make more portraits with my brand new Sony a7R IV mirrorless camera!
