Networking works in Albuquerque

Longtime networking friend Lisa contacted me about making headshots for the entire team at FatPipe New Mexico, which is a fantastic coworking space in Albuquerque and other cities around New Mexico. I actually normally visit FatPipe ABQ once a week every Wednesday morning for 1 Million Cups, but with Covid-19, it has gone virtual meaning I do not leave my desk at home. I did get to actually use the coworking space recently as I was without power at home for two days. With very short notice Lisa had a work space for me ready to go when I arrived, with of course very fast wifi. Thank you Lisa and Stewart for choosing me as your headshot photographer!

Quemado is a hidden gem small New Mexico town

Even for someone who has been to hundreds of rural land real estate properties in more than half the counties in New Mexico, there are still some areas I have not yet been. Such was the case when I visited Quemado, New Mexico for Hemingway Land recently. In the far west-central part of New Mexico, near no major highway, nor any city, Quemado is one would expect a quiet place with echos of when it was a more bustling town. If you are looking for a quiet place to have a weekend getaway, nearby Quemado Lake makes a visit to Quemado a hidden gem exploring opportunity. I recommend staying at Casa Azul, everything you want in a B&B experience with a very friendly owner who is a great cook as well!

Getting candids with Jalene and friends

Longtime and one of my favorite photography clients, Jalene, asked if I could make some candid portraits of her and other board members of Save New Mexico. If you have followed the blog of Jason Collin Photography for some time, you will see I photograph people, organizations, and events from across the political spectrum. This was a very fun shoot where Jalene’s abundance of personality made it easy to get fun candids of the group, and we also made headshots for everyone on location too. I even recorded some B-roll video that was used on the website! Thank you Jalene for continuing to choose me as your photographer for everything from theatre performances to headshots!

Sunrise drone flight for amazing results for the client

Here at Jason Collin Photography, I find in photography and drone video, getting up for the sunrise is never a bad thing and often produces amazing results. Such was the case at this luxury rural real estate property in Arizona that I just happened to be staying at in the guest cabin allowing me an easy walk to the large pond right on the property to catch this stunning sunrise with both the drone and my mirrorless camera. This was a specific request by the client to capture sunrise content, and I included it in the overall property drone video I delivered to the client. I liked the sunrise drone video clips so much, I wanted to feature them, even though they are brief, in their own drone video.

Getting variety from the same views rural land real estate

Here at Jason Collin Photography rural land real estate is a staple of my business, especially with Hemingway Land, now over 3 years working together! I had a huge 18 property shoot in Socorro County recently for this client. This type of shoot takes a lot of prep work, making sure I plot out the properties in the most efficient order, not any possible impassable roads, and then perhaps the biggest challenge, trying to get the photos to look somewhat different even though all 18 properties essentially had the same open views, and were all just empty, featureless land. How to get variety then? Well, have the clouds change helps. Then sometimes I frame the sun to the upper left, or the upper right, or I move the horizon higher or lower in the frame too.
