Commercial Business Headshot Optometrist St. Petersburg Florida VIP Eyecare with Dr. Henri

Commercial business headshot for Dr. Henri of VIP Eyecare St. Petersburg Florida - Nikon D300 Nikkor 80-200mm @ f/10 ISO 200 1/60th - Strobist: SB-800 @ 1/2 power in 43" brolly to frame front right & SB-600 @ 1/2 power in 43" shoot through umbrella to frame rear rightThis morning I continued my business relationship with VIP Eyecare in St. Petersburg Florida making a headshot for Dr. Henri.  In the past I have photographed several events there as well as making commercial interior photos of their new location for print marketing materials and their website.  For the headshot itself, they wanted to make sure the VIP logo was visible on Dr. Henri's jacket, along with her name, and then have the background show some of the product they carry, i.e. glasses.  Since Dr. Henri was wearing glasses herself, I had to be careful that none of my speedlights were showing up as glare in her lenses by placing both lights high above her.  For the perspective, I shot from one step up on a folding ladder.

Dr. Henri was a great model being able to recreate her smile as I adjusted the two speedlights I was using in the tight space between eyeglass shelves and getting the best composition possible to achieve all the details they wanted in the headshot.  It is always fun to visit VIP Eyecare and say hello to everyone there and I very much appreciate them continuing to be my most loyal commercial photography client.

VIP EYE CARE St. Petersburg Customer Appreciation Event May 2013

VIP Eye Care boutique in St. Petersburg Florida hosts another customer appreciation event in May 2013 - Nikon D300 Tamron 17-50mm @ f/5.6 ISO 800 1/60th SB-800 @ 1/4 power hotshoe mounted

I returned to VIP Eye Care boutique in the downtown St. Petersburg area to photograph another one of their customer appreciation events.  VIP has been my most frequent photography client, in addition to my optomology needs (contact lenses).  This time the event happened while it was still light out letting me use some of the available natural light for different looks to shots.

Trying on a new pair of glasses at VIP Eye Care St. Petersburg Florida - Nikon D80 Nikkor 80-200mm @ f/4 ISO 800 1/60th SB-600 @ 1/4 power hotshoe mounted

This is a photograph of a reflection above, with the light from my SB-600 sidelighting her as seen in the reflection.  I always like to try out new tricks when possible in order to create new event photographs for clients.

Glasses replacing glasses at VIP Eye Care St. Petersburg Florida event photography - Nikon D80 Nikkor 80-200mm @ f/4 ISO 800 1/100th SB-600 @ 1/4 power hotshoe mounted

Such a purposefully overexposed shot was never possible at the other events I photographed for VIP after the sun went down.  I thought it was interesting she kept her old glasses on her head while she tried on a new pair.

Showing off a pair of sunglasses at VIP Eye Care St. Petersburg Florida event photography - Nikon D80 Nikkor 80-200mm @ f/4 ISO 800 1/60th SB-600 @ 1/4 power hotshoe mounted

I asked this sunglasses rep to hold out a pair of them as far extended as he could as I wanted to make a shot with just the sunglasses in focus and him and the background the bokeh.

Visit VIP Eye Care for a very friendly staff that will take great care of your vision and a business that regularly shows its appreciation for customers.

VIP EYE CARE St. Petersburg Customer Appreciation Event 2012

VIP Eye Care boutique customer choosing new frames - Nikon D300 Tamron 17-50mm @ f/5.6 1/10 ISO 800 zooming in while shutter pressed & Nikon SB-800 @ 1/4 power hotshoe mountedI have a long relationship with VIP EYE Care in St. Petersburg.  They have been both my source of eye care and also a loyal photography client (see here).  My lastest photography assignment for them was photographing their 2012 Customer Appreciation Celebration event.

A packed boutique at VIP Eye Care - Nikon D300 Tamron 17-50mm @ f/5.6 1/60th ISO 800 Nikon SB-800 Speedlight @ 1/4 power hotshoe mountedI roamed around photographing candids of customers checking out all the fashionable eyeglass frame choices.  I learned that choosing a new pair of glasses is quite an involved decision.  In fact, I saw several people looking whan I arrived at 6pm and only finally decided just before I left at 8pm!

This pair or that pair? - Nikon D80 Nikkor 80-200mm @ f/4 ISO 800 1/100th Nikon SB-600 Speedlight @ 1/4 power hotshoe mountedI also started to pick up on some insider jargon, always something I like to do.  There are letter and number code names for specific lens shapes.  Not surprisingly, new designs are carefully kept secret I also heard from one vendor.

Even babies tried new glasses - Nikon D80 Nikkor 80-200mm @ f/4 ISO 800 1/100th with Nikon SB-600 @ 1/4 power hotshoe mountedEven a baby got to try on some new shades during the celebratory event.  I am very thankful for the continued business from VIP Eye Care and highly recommend Dr. Henri if you are looking for a very good eye doctor.

St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster Ribbon Cutting at VIP Eye Care

St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster helping Dr. Mona Henri with the ribbon cutting for her boutique's new location. This morning was my fourth opportunity to photograph St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster at a ribbon cutting for a local business.  VIP Eye Care has been my source for contact lenses since moving back to Florida 2.75 years ago.  I chose Dr. Henri's (in red above) eye care facility because I wanted to support a fellow independent St. Pete business rather than a chain with outlets across the country.  As you would expect, the service is great and Dr. Henri's eye exams are actually kind of fun.

Warning, looking closer may cause sticker shock! - Nikon D300 Tamron 17-50mm @ f/5.6 ISO 800 1/60th with Nikon SB-800 Speedlight @ 1/4 +2/3 power hotshoe mountedMost of the times I visit VIP Eye Care I am just in and out to pickup my contact lenses.  At the ribbon cutting this morning I had a chance to browse the many designer brands of eyeglasses on display.  Now, I have been a loyal Oakley man since I was 16 years old, so I am accustomed to paying a not insignificant sum for eyewear.  However, Oakley provides "thermonuclear protection" which I absolutely believe in.  Thus, $300 to $400 sticker prices for just an empty pair of frames was shocking to me!  At least the ones for $400 were made of carbon fiber!

Candid Mayor Bill Foster trying on a pair of square lenses at VIP Eye Care in St. Petersburg FloridaMayor Foster declared himself as a person who really loves wearing glasses having no interest in lasic surgery or contact lenses.  I liked that.  You do not often hear people being proud to wear glasses, although I think it has gotten a lot cooler to do so in the past few years compared to when I was a kid.
