Making the most of a tight location for Car Auction Photography in Watsonville
I am always excited when Brian of Peixoto Auto Group reaches out to me about photographing his latest client car. This time it was another car auction photography shoot for Cars & Bids. I drove up to Watsonville looking forward to making great shots of the white Lexus GS 350 he told me about prior to the shoot. The one challenge was going to be the location. I had seen it before, and at that time of day, the mix of sun and shadow would not really work. However, scheduling this one early in the day allowed for me to have the lighting and space to make it work. I used the barn as the backdrop for the required 360 exterior shots, then had Brian move the Lexus to another driveway spot to get cleaner backgrounds for the interior photos. I wrapped up the shoot going low angle getting some hero shots with my trusty 24mm f/1.4 and 50mm f/1.2 lenses. In the end I was very pleased with the variety of photos I was able to make for Brian in this location and really liked the inspiration I had in photographing the very cool looking interior of this GS 350. Photographing a Custom Van while Talking to the Owner during Bring A Trailer Shoot
I really enjoyed talking with Chris, the owner of this custom van, as I photographed it for the car auction site Bring A Trailer in the Monterey, California area. This van is highly customized, having started out life as a passenger van, but now outfitted with solar, a wi-fi extender, and a shower! Chris was very helpful during the car auction photography shoot allowing me to get the best photos possible of the van, inside and out, so it can sell for the best price on Bring A Trailer. He pointed out all the custom details and helped getting the high up solar panel roof shot. Thank you Chris for choosing me as your photographer and I hope the van goes to a good new owner!
Custom Mini Cooper Photographed for Bring A Trailer car auction site
Bruce put a lot of work into modifying his Mini Cooper from engine boosting to custom exterior lights, the exhaust, and even the door sills! Still, it is time for Bruce to say good-bye to his Mini Cooper so he contacted me about making professional photos of it for selling it on the car auction site Bring A Trailer. We met at an abandoned parking lot on the CSUMB campus (don’t tell anyone, ha!) to make the series of photos car auctions sites like Bring A Trailer need and want. I enjoyed working with Bruce photographing his Mini Cooper from exterior, to engine bay, to the interior. Thank you Bruce for choosing me as your car auction photographer and good luck with the sale!
Ferrari Owners line up Ocean Ave in Carmel for Monterey Car Week 2025
Another car show event for Monterey Car Week 2025 today. This time I went to Carmel for Prancing Ponies on Ocean Ave. The main street down the heart of Carmel is Ocean Ave, and indeed ends right at the ocean. The beach was not the center of attention today though, it was a lineup of Ferrari cars from across the generations to the latest 12 cylinder GT car, to classic racing cars from the 50s. I even got to see my personal favorite, the 458 Speciale Aperta. None of the Ferrari Big 5 (now 6) nor the Daytona SP3 which was disappointing though. Still, the sun was out and it was a beautiful afternoon for viewing fast and beautiful Italian sports cars!
Pacific Grove annual The Little Car Show brings a big crowd in 2025
One of the benefits of living in downtown Pacific Grove is that many very cool events are just walking distance away. Such was the case today with The Little Car Show taking place just two blocks from both my photo studio and apartment. I really enjoyed this car show because it was not the usual kinds of cars you see at the average car show. Many cars I had never even heard of before, let alone have seen before. So many of the car owners started talking to me about their cars with such interesting stories and history with their cars. One person with a VW van took his now wife out on their first date in it. All these years later, he just finished restoring it with his daughter. What an amazing story it was! Thank you to all the car owners who came to Pacific Grove today!
Car event photography at Porsche of Monterey for Car Week 2025
This was my second time attending the car event held by Porsche of Monterey. For me, it kicks off Monterey Car Week 2025. This is a very large car event featuring Porsches from all eras and all generations. The event spreads out all over the dealership covering the entire lot, the service bays, and even closing a part of one of the main streets in town. It is a great event if you want to learn about the history of Porsche cars, or just walk around in the late afternoon sunshine daydreaming about driving one of these sports cars on the open road. Another first for me was getting to see a PTS Carrera GT!
