It took far too long to visit Petroglyphs in Albuquerque New Mexico. Many times on my way to photographing rural land properties in Rio Rancho had I past it. Finally, a brief visit was possible just to Black Volcano. A short 4K drone video of Black Volcano is featured above.
You begin walking upon lava rock right away at the Black Volcano trail of Petroglyphs. It was curious why only this portion of the entering trail was like this. I thought it would make for an interesting shot, especially composed from just a few inches above the ground.
The lava rock got bigger at the top of the volcano! Black Volcano is in between two other volcanoes. The view from up here was a commanding 360° one of the Rio Grande Valley, the Sandia Mountains and the vast nothingness that expands west of Albuquerque.
If you only have time for a short hike, but want big thrills, then take the Black Volcano trail and summit a volcano, be treated to a 360° view and have a convenient New Mexico True experience.
