"Hero Shot" of many of the great treats available at Cake Fetish in Albuquerque, New Mexico - Nikon D750 with Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens @ f/8 1/200th ISO 1000 with silver reflector to frame left
I got a food photography assignment to make photos that will be used for an online ordering app at a place called Cake Fetish in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was intrigued, naturally. I was greeted by the owner, Kendall Harris, who has won a TV baking competition! She began bringing out a wide assortment of amazing looking baked goods.

I had actually never heard of cake pops before, but have since learned they are quite a popular thing. Cake pops do seem like a very interesting cake delivery method!
How do you choose a cupcake when they all look this good?? - Nikon D750 with Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens @ f/11 1/25th ISO 100 tripod mounted with cable release and silver reflector to frame left
Cupcakes were the focus though of this shoot. I used simple and clear arrangements to make the cupcakes and other treats look good even on smaller mobile device screens.
I go to take these mini cupcakes home after photographing them! - Nikon D750 with Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D @ f/11 1/25th ISO 100 tripod mounted with cable release and silver reflector to frame left
The mini cupcakes in their clear plastic casing on a reflective table top were a bit of a challenge, but it was necessary to show the actual packaging they would come in if you were to order them yourself. To my surprise, Kendall offered this pack of a dozen mini cupcakes to take with me! I could not say no. Thank you Kendall for that and also for being the hand model in the hero shot!
