Airbnb Photography in Seaside with Staged Guest Experience Photos

Airbnb Photography in Seaside That Sells the Stay

Interior, lifestyle, detail, and amenity photography for a Monterey Bay vacation rental

A strong Airbnb photo gallery should do more than show potential guests what the rooms look like. For this Seaside vacation rental, the photography included traditional interior and exterior coverage along with intentionally staged guest experiences and more creative highlight photos designed to show what staying at the property could actually feel like.

Selling the Experience, Not Just the Rooms

I always like when Airbnb clients want to stage rooms, as it makes the shoot not only more fun and creative for me, it makes their Airbnb listing also more attractive and eye catching or potential guests. This Airbnb photography shoot in Seaside is an example of that, as Steven wanted to go well beyond simply getting the standard wide photos of every room and have staged photos as well. Of course, I still made all the standard Airbnb photos first showing the living spaces, kitchen, bathrooms, and layout of the property.

Then once the main property photos were finished, I also took my camera off the tripod and started looking for more creative views using shallow depth of field and foreground elements. Those photographs gave us another set of images that can catch attention on Airbnb, social media, or anywhere else he wants to market the property. It was great to see afterward that Steven chose one of the staged experience photographs as the featured image on the actual Airbnb listing.

Thank you Steven for choosing me as your Seaside Airbnb photographer!

Airbnb Photography That Shows More Than the Property

Professional vacation-rental photography should answer the practical questions a potential guest has about a property, but it can also do something more. A complete photo shoot can show the comfort, amenities, atmosphere, and experiences that make someone choose one Airbnb over another.

For this property, that meant creating the essential room photographs first and then building a larger image library around how guests could actually enjoy their stay.

Professional Airbnb Interior Photography

Clear, inviting photographs that help guests understand every important space before they book

These are the foundation of any Airbnb photography shoot. Potential guests need to quickly understand how the home is laid out, what the rooms look like, how they connect, and what they can expect when they arrive. I make these photographs primarily from a tripod and choose angles that show the spaces clearly while still emphasizing the design, furnishings, natural light, and individual character of each room.

The goal is not to make every room look identical. This Seaside home has bedrooms with different colors and personalities, distinctive coastal details, comfortable gathering spaces, and its own visual character throughout the property, and the photography should preserve those differences.

Staging the Guest Experience

Food, drinks, and thoughtful staging help guests imagine themselves actually enjoying the Airbnb

This was one of my favorite parts of the shoot because Steven intentionally chose to add lifestyle photography instead of stopping after the traditional property coverage.

A photograph showing a hot tub tells someone the Airbnb has a hot tub. A photograph with wine, a cheese board, and the hot tub ready to enjoy starts to suggest what an afternoon or evening there might actually feel like. The same idea applies to the fire table, dining room, coffee setup, and other spaces throughout the house.

These photographs give a host another way to market the property by showing that the Airbnb itself can be part of the vacation experience rather than simply somewhere to sleep between other activities.

Creative Airbnb Highlight Photography

Shallow depth of field and more expressive compositions create images designed to catch attention

Once I had photographed all of the essential spaces, I took the camera off the tripod and changed the way I approached the property.

Instead of trying to keep everything sharp from front to back, I used shallow depth of field, foreground elements, and tighter compositions to draw attention to individual details while still giving a sense of the space around them. These photographs have a different job than the wide room photographs. The wide images explain the property; the creative highlight photographs can create atmosphere and give a host more attention-getting options for Airbnb, Instagram, a direct-booking website, advertising, or other marketing.

Having both styles from the same shoot creates a much more versatile image library.

From the Photo Shoot to the Airbnb Listing

Seeing the finished photographs working together is one of my favorite parts of photographing a vacation rental

After the shoot, Steven's photographs went live on the Airbnb listing for Monterey Bay Designer Retreat | Hot Tub & Fire Pit in Seaside.

I was especially glad to see one of the staged hot tub photographs become a prominent image on the listing. That was exactly the type of photograph we created to help attract attention before a potential guest even begins scrolling through the individual rooms.

The finished listing also demonstrates why having different kinds of photographs is useful. The wide images explain the home, the outdoor photographs show the amenities, and the staged lifestyle photos add another layer by helping someone picture what staying there might actually be like.

5 Reasons Professional Airbnb Photography Matters

Your photographs are often the first opportunity to convince a potential guest to stop scrolling and take a closer look

A vacation rental can have a great location, comfortable rooms, and excellent amenities, but potential guests first have to notice the listing.

Professional photography can help with that first impression while also giving guests a clearer understanding of the property, highlighting amenities, establishing trust in what they are booking, and helping the listing stand apart from competing rentals.

I previously put together 5 Reasons Why You Need Professional Photography for Your Airbnb, VRBO, and Vacation Rental Property, with more about why investing in the photographs can continue benefiting a listing long after the initial shoot.

Airbnb & Vacation Rental Photography Around the Monterey Peninsula

Interior photography, guest-experience images, creative details, drone photography, and video for vacation-rental properties

Some Airbnb properties only need a new collection of straightforward interior and exterior photographs. Others, like Steven's Seaside vacation rental, benefit from creating a much larger visual library that shows not only the property, but the amenities, atmosphere, and experience of staying there.

I photograph Airbnb, VRBO, vacation rental, and hospitality properties throughout Seaside, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Big Sur, and the surrounding Monterey Peninsula. A shoot can include traditional interior and exterior photography, staged lifestyle images, creative highlights, aerial drone photography, and video depending on what will best help market the property.

If you are preparing a new listing or your current photographs no longer show what makes your property special, this is exactly the kind of photo shoot I would like to create more of.
