Creative high desert rural land real estate photography in Socorro County New Mexico

To be a good rural land real estate photographer in New Mexico, one must be able to often make something out of nothing. Maybe there is a distant mountain or mesa, maybe there are good clouds, but the desert land itself, is often just dry grass and thorny bushes. I use these, for low angle shots and incorporate the dry grass into the foreground to make a more creative and eye catching photo of what otherwise would be just a flat, sparse landscape. Thankfully at this rural land photo shoot in Socorro County, New Mexico, the clouds were fantastic and the sunset pretty good to add some style to the photos.

Red Rock Mesas of McKinley County New Mexico Drone Video

Back out in the New Mexico desert for the first time in a while for rural land real estate photography. This time I was in McKinley County New Mexico somewhere west of Grants and east of Thoreau. The obvious highlight of this area were the many red rock mesas creating a dramatic view and landscape. Many visits to Socorro County west of Belen in New Mexico

Socorro County New Mexico, near Belen in particular, is one of the areas I have visited the most in my 5+ years of photographing hundreds of rural land real estate properties. Then even more specifically, this area near the small airport west of Belen, high up on a plain bordered by mountains I return to multiple times each year. It is a peaceful area, and once you go south a bit, you feel like the entire desert is just yours. Walking this land with my two cameras is a peaceful photography work experience. The only noise comes when I send the drone up to get aerial photos of the entire 5 acres.

Spending sunset time in the desert of New Mexico for real estate photography

Lately I’ve been to both Valencia County and Torrence County in New Mexico several times on rural land real estate photography shoots. This is an opportunity to go to an area that is usually pretty remote and quiet and just listen to the desert as the daytime shift gives way to the nighttime shift. Plus, if the clouds are right, the big sky sunsets make for great views.

Returning to Socorro County New Mexico for rural land real estate photography for the first time in 2021, an area I have been to many times before, I knew what to expect. It would be windy, very windy, Google Maps would show roads where there is only open desert, and eventually, the cows would come home. I experienced all of the above, but those challenges did not stop me from getting the results the client wanted with the right combination of clouds, light, and sunset. Best rural land real estate photographer for Cibola County New Mexico

My first rural land real estate photography shoot of 2021 had me right back to where I spent much of the last few months of 2020, in the El Morro area of Cibola County, New Mexico. The snow had 95% melted from most areas, except north facing slopes, as you can see in the photos, especially from the drone aerial photos. This particular property extended all the way up and over the mesa, which was a tricky little climb for me in the snow with two cameras and a tripod! This is the physical ability and professionalism I have to make sure, even in difficult conditions, I get the best photographic coverage of a property for this client.

When light and sky and clouds come together for rural land photography

In the past 4 years I have photographed hundreds and hundreds of rural land real estate properties all over New Mexico. Every now and then the light and the sky make for an exceptional background to what in reality is just an empty piece of high desert. Such was the case for this property in Torrance County New Mexico, near Moriarty. The land had just one bush on it, and otherwise just foot high grass. However, thanks to an infinite sky filled with soft sunlight and painted with just the right amount of clouds, these rural land photos stand out. This does not happen by accident, as I waited over 2 weeks for just the right day for this client, even driving halfway out there (50 miles round trip!) only to turn around as it became too cloudy. This is the experience and professionalism I offer real estate clients. No one has photographed and flown over more rural land properties than I have.
