This image was made in September 2009 on a hot trek through little known Colt Creek State Park. Many of the trails were flooded so the view in the photograph above is as close as I got to the forest on the horizon that day. Someday I will return to the park and camp there to photograph the sunrise over the wetlands.

This image was made on Thanksgiving Day 2009. There is no snow in Florida so this was the most winter like landscape I could think of for making into December's free desktop wallpaper calendar. It is also one of my own personal favorite images of 2009 so far.

This image was made in Tochigi Prefecture in Japan. It was an unexpected find on a trip to Nikko that was mostly for photographing shrines and temples. I had never previously seen a moor in Japan before, nor such a wide open space not being used for farmland.

This image was made at a local dog park and features my own puppy Kiki (black lab-retriever mix) with her best playmate Berkeley (Australian Shepard). They wrestle non-stop for an hour. At this precise moment they were engaged in fierce, but friendly wrestling match and you could only see the joy on their faces in such a frozen moment. In real time it looks and sounds like they are in a street fight! This is why I love candid photography best.
