Senior Prom 2016 Group Photos Cape Coral Florida

Marvin and friends needed no coaching to come up with pose after pose in group shots before the senior prom in Cape Coral - Nikon D300 with Tamron 17-50mm @ f/8 1/250th ISO 200 - Strobist: SB-800 & SB-600 with diffuser caps

Part of being a professional photographer is the ability to shoot at short notice and to adapt to radically different shooting circumstances than expected.  The day of these senior prom photos in Cape Coral, Florida I thought I would be just photographing Marvin (above lower left) and his date and maybe another couple at the Cape Coral Yacht Club.  As you can see from these photos, there were quite a few more people and it ended up just being someone's backyard!

Just the ladies before prom 2016 in Cape Coral - Nikon D300 with Tamron 17-50mm @ f/9 1/250th ISO 200 - Strobist: SB-800 & SB-600 with diffuser caps

For having 15 seniors on a small dock along with myself and two light stands and a few parents, it went pretty orderly and no high schooler nor any photography equipment ended up in the water thankfully!

All 15 high schoolers before prom in Cape Coral 2016 already with plenty of moves! - Nikon D300 with Tamron 17-50mm @ f/5.6 1/250th ISO 200 - Strobist: SB-800 & SB-600 with diffuser caps

I made use of the location as best I could finishing the shoot by getting up on the retainer wall for some higher up group shots of everyone as they once again had no trouble coming up with entertaining poses.

After the group shots I kept the camera going for some really candid reactions before prom - Nikon D300 with Tamron 17-50mm @ f/5.6 1/250th ISO 200 - Strobist: SB-800 & SB-600 with diffuser caps

It was quite unexpected to be shooting a large group of people when I was prepared to shoot maybe two couples at a time, but it turned out to be one of my more fun shoots and I always like a challenge!
