The most fun you will have networking in Albuquerque

The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce did it yet again with another amazingly fun, energetic and informative networking event right here in Albuquerque, New Mexico.   The first Thursday of every month is the Get Crafty With Your Biz event where three local business owners briefly tell their own personal business story and the conclude with a piece of business advice for the attendees.  It is a great format that let's one network and mingle, but also here a real local business success story.

Rail Yards Albuquerque New Mexico TapIntoABQ Event 2018

Rail Yards Albuquerque New Mexico TapIntoABQ Event 2018

I have explored many haikyo (abandoned places) around the world, but I have never photographed an event in one before!  Likewise, if you have been to the Rail Yards Market before, maybe you have never seen the Rail Yards of Albuquerque quite like this either!  Inside the massive hangar, even seating for 180 people looks small.  That is what I discovered photographing the 2018 TapIntoABQ event for the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.

Ribbon Cutting Event Albuquerque New Mexico Kangen Water

Ribbon Cutting Event Albuquerque New Mexico Kangen Water

I learned a lot at this ribbon cutting event in Albuquerque, New Mexico for Kangen Water.  I was surprised that according to their acidity metrics, tap water is better for you than the two most popular bottled water makers!  The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce were very good hosts once again.  If I lived closer to Kangen, I would be a member of their store where you can bring in your own water jugs and get them refilled.  There is also a counter top machine for sale to purify the water right in your own home, but for me, it is just a little out of budget at the moment!

The Biz Gratis networking event put on by the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce every month is one of my favorite events to photograph.  This time I was more portrait focused as I used my Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G lens to create shallow depth of field photos even in a very small, very crowded space.  The overhead canopy made beautiful diffused light just like a softbox in a photo studio further allowing me to make candid event photographs not normally possible!

Event Photography in Albuquerque New Mexico Amigos Breakfast May 2018

This was just the third Amigos Breakfast networking event for the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, but it is already becoming a lot of people's favorite monthly event in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  As I wrote about last month's Amigos Breakfast, the format of getting to know someone 1-on-1 in a 20 minute conversation to start, then presenting for 60 seconds about their business and personal life is a fantastic format for making it not just a stop and pop, typical networking event.  You get to know one person well, and personal stories from every other person too.  Do not miss the next one!

Rio Grande Celtic Festival Highland Games 2018 Albuquerque Event Photography

Rio Grande Celtic Festival Highland Games 2018 Albuquerque Event Photography

I took my new Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 G2 lens to the 30th Anniversary Rio Grande Celtic Festival and Highland Games at Balloon Fiesta Park to see what kind of olde worlde action I could photograph.  There was not a tremendous amount of organization, so I did not hear the name of any of these feats of strength you see pictured below.  I will describe them as I saw them.  The first are photos of a square of perhaps hay and stone being tossed up over a high bar like a pole vaulter, but with a pitchfork!  The next I would call throwing a very heavy lollipop as far as you can.  Then the other could be carrying a telephone pole until you find where you want to toss it!  Then there was dancing and music too!  No idea what the dances were called either!  I ate a great Welsh cake, though, with lemon curd on it!
