Liz called me up needing headshots for the company she works for. They did not have any set guidelines nor did Liz have any so I suggested a modern style business headshot, one that can be cropped perfectly square (above) that can be used as a profile photo on social media sites, then one cropped rectangular (below) for more traditional placement on about pages on websites. I made these headshots right in the living room of her Cape Coral home using my mobile headshot studio setup.

I photographed Liz on a white background then in Photoshop cut her out of the original image and placed her on a blank background. I then inserted a layer behind her choosing a color to compliment the headshot image. I often sample a color from the clothing the person is wearing, which I did in both cases here. I then add a circular gradient and no mess, no fuss a colorful background makes the business headshot pop.
