Why specialize in candid photography?
Jason Collin Photography specializes in candid photography simply because those are the type of photographs Jason himself likes to look at best. It is important for a photographer to shoot what he or she loves, and Jason especially loves candids.
Candid photography allows one to see moments that last only for a single instant. Candid photographs cause a different emotional reaction when viewed than a posed shot. It is often easier for people to see themselves, or their true personality, in a candid photograph rather than a posed one.
Your Photographer -- Jason Collin, professional photographer with international experience
My first memory of photography is being fascinated by the flash cubes you used to have to attach to cameras back in the 70s and 80s. I used to keep the ones my grandfather discarded.
I always wanted to be a photographer, but I came to realize it was film that was holding me back. I was too impatient for it. Even the hour long printing process of the 90s was a long wait for me.
Then in 2001 I bought my first digital camera, an Olympus 2040Z. It was a 2-megapixel beauty that allowed me to make great photographs. That camera traveled with me to many countries, from the country it was purchased in, South Korea, to Japan, to Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and New Zealand before finally ending up back in Japan. Digital remedied my patience problem and eased the ability to make photographs.
Once I got my first DSLR, a Nikon D80, I was taken in by the technical side of photography and realized it could be an in-depth fine art passion and creative outlet full-time for me.Thus, after nearly a decade abroad in Asia, I have returned to Florida with more camera and photography enthusiasm than I could have ever imagined. Just as I could never imagine I would spend a decade abroad.

The why part of photography for me is all about the moment. Perfection only lasts for a single instant, it is against logic for it to last any longer. However, that perfect instant can live long in one’s memory. Photography is a means to make this perfect instant tangible, and a bit more permanent.
Currently I live in Saint Petersburg with my wife, Aya, and our newly adopted lab-retriever mix puppy, Kiki.
Jason Collin Photography is dedicated to providing the utmost in customer service while offering the best candid photography possible.
